Officers of Branch 132 are: (l-r, seated) Anna Horvath and Helen Pécsi, auditors; (standing) W. Scott Lehmann, treasurer, Alex Horvath, vice president; and Frank J. Wukovits Jr., president many surprises in each bag were oranges and apples donated by former National Director William C. Kohut. Mr. Kohut has been donating the fruit for many years and we appreciate his continued generosity. Richard W. Toth, national vice president-secretary and branch vice president, greeted everyone and introduced Elmer W. Toth, vice chairman of the Board and branch president. The children were thrilled by the performance of magician-illusionist Dustin Ashbaugh and his partner Julie. After the show, we enjoyed a buffet lunch and sang Christmas carols. To encourage Santa's arrival, a chorus line of 20 young members and a few parents sang a rousing rendition of "Jingle Bells." Santa entered the hall with a great "Ho! Ho! Ho!" He visited with the children, listened to their Christmas wishes and distributed gifts. We thank the National Officers and Board of Directors for making the Christmas parties possible. We wish a happy new year to the Board, the Home Office employees and all our members. Special thanks go to the following members of our branch for their assistance in making our party a success: Elmer, Ruth and Lisa Toth; Richard and Nancy Toth; Elaine and John Toth; Justin and Timothy Toth; Wayne and Cindy Toth; and Helen Shumaker. Twenty children, from infants to age 15, attended. The children dined on "Happy Meals." Later, a very special guest arrived-Santa. The children took turns sitting on Santa's lap and expressing their many Christmas wishes. Pictures were taken of each child with Santa, who distributed goodie bags containing candy, fruit, cookies, books, wallets, pens, pencils and a McDonald's gift certificate. A good time was had on a beautiful, sunny day. Carols were sung and games were played. At the end of the party everyone was served cake and the children sang "Happy Birthday" to Jesus. A special thank you goes to the staff of the WPA Home Office and the Board of Directors for the many generous gifts which made our party such a happy day for all. Good wishes in the new year to all. Varner A beautiful, warm, sunny day welcomed the guests of Branch 159's annual Christmas party, held Dec. 5 at the local Burger King Restaurant. Many of the children took advantage of the nearly 70 degree weather to enjoy themselves on the enclosed playground while Mom and Dad ordered lunch for all. After an exhausting workout, the children returned inside to look through the "Wonder Bag," wondering what was new and exciting in the traditional WPA bag that's handed out to each family as they enter the premises. Everyone enjoyed a hearty meal, then Santa (Temple Coldren) entered the room with his hearty "Ho! Ho!" Willim Pem Lile, January 2000 15
