Our deepest sympathy to Frank Zimmermann, branch auditor, whose sister passed away recently. May she rest in peace. A very happy birthday and anniversary to all celebrating these occasions. The best of health to all our members. Since spring is here, I guess we can put our snow shovels away and get our grass cutters in shape. ( Branch 296 ^ _____Springdale, PA y by Diane M. Torma At our April branch meeting, arrangements were made for the bowling tournament in Cleveland. Branch 296 members will be bowling and attending the awards dinner. We also decided to sponsor a lane for $25 to benefit the WPFA Scholarship Foundation. Our thanks to John Rusak and Jennie Wislie for their donations to Operation Christmas Child and to Nick Koricich for your scholarship donation. That was very thoughtful of you all. Get well wishes go to John Simon of Leechburg and to Irene Charles who recently underwent ankle surgery. We missed you at our April meeting. Hope you are up and about soon. In the meantime, enjoy being waited on and eating George's cooking. I hear it's great. Our deepest sympathy goes to Noreen Fritz on the recent sudden death of her best friend and WPA member Doris Cole. She was a very special person. May her family and friends find comfort in precious memories. Congratulations to branch member Randy Fritz, son of Noreen, on his April 15 marriage to Traci Tschannen. May this be the beginning of many years of happiness together. Happy May birthday wishes to George Charles, Jim Charles, Frank Fritz and all of our members celebrating their special day this month. Our branch holds its monthly meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Hungarian Reformed Church in Springdale. The next meeting is May 11. Please join us. Branch 336 Harrisburg, PA by Charles S. Johns Are all branches of the WPA preparing for the Annual Bowling Tournament in Cleveland May 27 to 28? Branch 336 is ready. For our fellow members everywhere, we send you this piece of advice: Listen to your father-in-law if he bowls. It was a piece of advice from his father-in-law that helped Branch 336 bowler Steve Vafias roll his first 300 game recently. Steve is one of our team captains and a great guy. His perfect game capped a 640 series. "I was nervous," Steve said, "but the last three (balls) were all in the 1-2-3 pocket. "My father-in-law, Gerald Walck, has been bowling 55 years and he told me to take a deep breath and relax. That's what I did." We hope the rest of our bowlers are as ready as Steve. In any case, we look forward to this annual event, one our branch members have been attending for more than 50 years. Renewing old friendships and making new friends is what it is all about. We wish a speedy recovery to "Yonko" Sunkovich who is in Dauphin County Hospital and Home. Stop by and see him. He'd appreciate it very much. June 17 is Join Hands Day, a new national day of volunteering sponsored by the WPA and America's Fraternal Benefit Societies. We plan to participate in the day along with the Greenpeace Trail Association. Our next branch meeting will be June 19 at the same place and time as usual. For any of your life insurance or annuity needs, please contact me at (717) 236-3516. Wishing all our branch members a healthy and worthwhile spring. ( Branch 352 \_____Coraopolis, PA by Dianne A. Charles At our April branch meeting we had quite a bit to discuss. We voted to sponsor a Branch 352 men's bowling team, Team Snapper. Branch Vice President Jim Deak is the captain, and he says the team is ready to go to Cleveland. Best of luck guys. We agreed to sponsor a lane at the bowling tournament to benefit the WPFA Scholarship Foundation. We will also be making a donation during the scholarship foundation's annual meeting. We discussed some possible ideas for Join Hands Day on June 17, and we talked at length about Operation Christmas Child. So, here I go with my Operation Christmas Child update. As of April 23, we have 84 gift boxes filled, wrapped and ready to go. We have received donations from our own branch plus Branch 8121 St. 18 Willi» Pm Lile, May 2000
