Branch 800 Altoona, PA By Vincent Frank Branch 800 President Wishing you all a blessed holiday season and a new year of peace and happiness. Your branch officers hope you have a very Merry Christmas. As we begin to leave the year 1998 behind us, let us look forward to the year 1999 while anticipating greater spiritual growth and physical health in all members and their families. Branch 800’s Christmas party for adults, juvenile members and friends will be held Sunday, Dec. 6 at 5:00 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church social hall in Altoona. The Home Office has been working with the branch to make sure that it will be enjoyed by both adults and children. We thank the Home Office staff for their help. We look forward to seeing all those who have made their reservations. It will be good to get together and enjoy the friendship of other members. Your branch will be taking part in the WPA Holiday Basket program this year. The membership always welcomes the chance to do something for the poor during the Christmas season. Let us not forget in our prayers those members who are very ill and won’t be able to enjoy the Christmas season as well as those who are enjoying good health. Our Lady of Fatima Church in Altoona was the site of the branch’s annual Thanksgiving Day Memorial mass for deceased members. The celebrant at Mass was the Rev. Anthony Pollack. Food items brought to the church were given to those in need. Do you have any children or grandchildren who should have life insurance? Before you look elsewhere, why not look into plans offered by the WPA? I am sure you will like what we have to offer. Call Bob Jones at (814) 942-2661, and he will give you the details. Happy New Year to all. Branch 8020 McKees Rock, PA By Bill Arbanas Branch 8020 President Our branch thanks the WPA for its generous contribution which allowed us to prepare three Holiday Baskets for the needy in our area. Our branch also prepared another three baskets—each including a voucher for a turkey or ham—making a total of six baskets our branch donated to the needy. For Halloween, our branch bought dozens of cookies for distribution at the DePaul Institute, which cares for children with speech and hearing impairments. We also delivered cookies to the personal care home for the elderly in McKees Rocks. We at Branch 8020 wish all WPA members a happy holiday season. God’s blessings to all. Branch 8121 St. Marys, PA By Margaret Marconi Branch 8121 Secretary Our branch held a regular business meeting on Nov. 4 at St. Marys Parochial School Annex. We thank the Home Office for the 1999 WPA calendars and the wonderful support for our Christmas party. We also appreciate the WPA’s generosity shown through the Holiday Basket program.
