Branch 800 Altoona, PA By Vincent Frank Branch 800 President Members attending the February branch meeting approved a motion that the branch again make its annual donations to the ministries at the Huntingdon Correctional Institution and Blair County Prison. This is our branch’s way of lending a helping hand and looking after the inmates’ spiritual needs. Many religious items and books have been purchased for the inmates, thanks, in large part, to our branch’s annual donations. Branch 800 congratulates Chairman of the Board Michael J. Hrabar on being selected as a recipient of the 1996 Distinguished Service Award presented by the American Hungarian Foundation. After reading of all his accomplishments over the years, we certainly agree that he is a most deserving recipient. Are you ready for the arrival of spring on March 20? Everyone here in central Pennsylvania certainly is. After a hard winter with loads of snow, blizzards, low temperatures and terrible floods in which so many people lost much of their property, we will welcome spring with open arms. We hope the parents and grandparents of our young members will encourage them to apply for one of our Association’s 1996 scholarship grants. Remember: The deadline for applications is May 15. Please see the notice concerning the scholarship program on Page 3 of this issue. We wish all our members and their families who are of Irish descent a Happy St. Patrick’s Day on March 17. Many couples in our branch have at least one partner who is Irish. We wish all a nice day.
