Page 4, William Penn Life, December 1996 Branch News Branch 14 Cleveland, OH By Dawn D. Ward Branch 14 Reporter It’s hard to believe that 1996 is coming to an end. The highlight of the year for Branch 14 will be the annual children’s Christmas party. It will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, atthe West Side Hungarian Reformed Church Calvin Center at 10:00 a.m. Everyone will enjoy a full breakfast and entertainment by Sparkles the clown. The arrival of Santa Claus with wonderful gifts for the children is always the most exciting moment! Juvenile members of Branch 14 will receive invitations to the party, but all Branch 14 members are welcome to attend. This year those attending are asked to donate to the William Penn’s scholarship fund. It is always gratifying to hear about the achievements of our scholarship recipients. Two of them are Kirk and Keri Lesiacsek of Painesville, Ohio. Kirk received his bachelor of arts degree in communications from Ohio State University in June 1996. While at OSU, he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and captain of the OSU intramural ice hockey team. He is currently employed as a corporate account executive at Ameritech in Columbus. Keri is currently a senior at Mount Union College, Alliance, Ohio, majoring in music education. This fall she represented her sorority, Delta Zeta, on the homecoming court. Keri’s interest in music has her involved in several organizations, including the Kappa Kappa Psi honorary band fraternity, Alpha Psi Omega honorary theater fraternity, Ohio Collegiate Music Educators Association, Mount Union College Concert Choir, and Chancel Choir director at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Massillon, Ohio. We would appreciate information regarding any WPA scholarship recipient, past or present. Please call the office at (216) 838-1200 so that our members can read about how you’re doing. We welcome new members Julius McGinty of Fort Myers and Stephen Toth of Gainesville, Fla. On Nov. 10 the Plant City Hungarian Club dedicated its meeting to the 40th anniversary of the 1956 uprising. Main speaker Zoltán Revay spoke of the hardships endured by the Hungarian people. He went back in time and history to the different skirmishes the Hungarian nation encountered, beginning with the crossing of the people in the Carpathian Mountains to the uprising against the Soviets in Budapest in 1956.
