Branch 800 Altoona, PA By Vincent Frank Branch 800 President As schools have resumed their classes, so, too, has our branch, after a nice summer vacation, resumed its monthly meetings. Our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the social hall of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Altoona. Leo and Cecelia Long celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a Mass at St. John’s Catholic Church in Lakemont, with the Rev. Paul Turnbull as celebrant. Their son Robert hosted a reception dinner at his home in Hollidaysburg attended by 50 relatives. It was a nice get together for their children and grandchildren. Our congratulations to the happy couple. Edwin and Evelyn Smith just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. An open house was held in their honor in the social hall of Hillcrest Apartments in Hollidaysburg. Seventy-five people attended the gathering and buffet luncheon. The Smiths thank all who attended. We hope you enjoy many more anniversaries. Congratulations. The branch’s annual August picnic was enjoyed by all those attending. The children especially enjoyed their treats. Door prizes were awarded, and the Rev. Kenneth Greiner blessed the meal and entertained us all with good music. This was the first time the branch had this affair catered, and we were very pleased with the way everything turned out. There was plenty of excellent food. Now we must wait for another year to go by before we can host a repeat. We thank all those who attended and all who helped to make it the great success it was. Branch 8121 St. Marys, PA By Margaret Marconi Branch 8121 Secretary Branch 8121 held its regular business meeting on Aug. 13 at St. Marys Grade School.
