Page 6, William Penn Life, September 1995 In Memóriám Recent Donations JULY 1995 MARY A. IVANCSO TOLEDO, OH — The entire Association was saddened by the recent death of one of its most dedicated and beloved members, Mary A. Ivancso. Mrs. Ivancso, 74, died Aug. 1,1995, at Medical College Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of Stephen J. Ivancso Sr., consultant to the Board of Directors and former national director, and mother of Robert A. Ivancso, co-chairman of the National Auditing Committee. Her work on behalf of the Association touched the lives of members of Branch 27 Toledo and the entire William Penn fraternal family. She served as a branch officer for 31 years, most recently in the dual role of secretary-treasurer and branch coordinator. Her face was also a familiar one to many William Penn bowlers because of her work as assistant secretary of recent annual bowling tournaments. She also served as a delegate to five General Conventions. She was born Oct. 15,1920, in Windber, Pa., and became the first Miss Windber in 1940. Following her marriage she moved to Toledo and was employed at the Overland for many years. Together with her husband, mother and father-in-law, they owned and operated the Red &. White Grocery Store on Consaul Street. She later retired from the Family Court Center after 25 years as a supervisor. Mrs. Ivancso was a talented cook and crocheter, winning several awards for her creations. For each of her daughters, she handbeaded their wedding gowns with more than 6,000 beads each. She was past president of the St. Stephen’s Church Mothers’ Club and a member of the Altar- Rosary Society. In addition to her husband and son, she is survived by three daughters, Mary Stephanie Regan, Elizabeth Lisa Peer and Maggie Butler; a son, S. J.; four grandchildren, Ron Reeder Jr., Jimmy Peer Jr. and Stephen and Nikki Ivancso; and a sister, Anne Single. The family suggests that memorials be made to St. Stephen’s School. May she rest in peace. JOSEPH JAVORSKY DAISYTOWN, PA — The members of Branch 85 Daisytown and many members throughout the Association were saddened by the recent death of Joseph Javorsky. Mr. Javorsky, 80, died July 31, 1995. He was a hard-working and devoted member who served his branch and the Association with distinction. He served for many years in various branch offices, including branch president and branch coordinator. He also represented the members of his branch as a delegate to six General Conventions. He was born April 26,1915, in Daisytown, the son of the late John and Gizella Javorsky. Like the men who founded the Association, Mr. Javorsky worked for many years as a coal miner. Burial was in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa. We extend our condolences to his wife Sarolta Dubay Javorsky and his entire family. May he rest in peace. PETER P. KARA NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — The members of Branch 19 New Brunswick and lovers of Hungarian music were saddened by the recent death of Peter P. Kara. Mr. Kara, 93, died on July 20, 1995, in St. Peter’s Medical Center, New Brunswick. A member of Branch 19, Mr. Kara was a New Brunswick fireman for 31 years, retiring as an assistant chief. With his late brother, Julius, he formed the Royal Hussars Orchestra, later known as the Kara Brothers Orchestra. The band appeared on radio broadcasts and played with Hungarian stars such as Ilona Massey, Jávor Pal and Zsa Zsa Gabor. Mr. Kara also hosted "Hungarian Melody Time” for 48 years on radio station WCTC-AM. He was a member of the Firemen’s Benevolent Association, Musicians Union Local 204, American Hungarian Foundation and New Brunswick American Hungarian Men’s Democratic Club. He is survived by his wife, Anna; a daughter, Lillian E. Thomas; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth Bilakouics. May he rest in peace. STEPHEN L. TOMCSAK STOW, OH — The members of Branch 28 and other members of our fraternal family were saddened by the recent death of Stephen L. Tomcsak, brother of National Director Michael F. Tomcsak. Stephen Tomcsak, 70, died Aug. 5, 1995. He was born Sept. 6,1924. He was a graduate of the Youngstown State School of Engineering and a retired project engineer for Goodyear Rubber in Akron, Ohio. An avid golfer, Mr. Tomcsak was a lifelong member of the Association. In addition to his brother, he is survived by his wife Fran, daughter Maryann and sons Stephen and Drew, all of Stow, and a sister, Veronica Weingart of Riverside, Calif. May he rest in peace. We ask our fellow members to pray for the eternal rest of Mrs. ivancso, Mr. Javorsky, Mt.
