Continued from Page 4 ident; Frank Zimmermann, vice president; Richard A. Mozer, treasurer; Ernest J. Mozer Sr., secretary; and Andrew Nemeth and Joseph Baumgartner, auditors. President Barillo thanked the members for all their faithful assistance during the past year and for making a rough task a lot easier. Entertainment for the party was supplied by Jeff the Magician who held the children and their parents spellbound with his unbelievable magic tricks. Many of the children participated in carrying out the tricks. The loud shouts of the children filled the room during the entire show. Afterwards Katie and Michael Mozer led everyone in singing Christmas carols from the carol books provided by the Home Office. Singing of the traditional Christmas songs helped bring out the Christmas spirit in all present. With the singing of "Jingle Bells,” Santa Claus (Andrew Nemeth) made his grand entrance, ringing his bell all the while. The younger children stared in wonder as he let out a hearty "Ho! Ho! Ho!” All eagerly responded "yes” when Santa asked if they had been good little girls and boys during the past year. Among our young guests were three children, all under one year of age, who were meeting Santa for the first time. Thanks to their grandparents who purchased their policies, these children were part of a joyous scene that brought tears of happiness to many eyes. It is these younger members who will see to it that the Association will continue for another hundred years. So, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, contact your branch coordinator about new policies. As each child sat on Santa’s lap, they were asked what they would like for Christmas. Their requests seemed endless. Santa, with the help of President Barillo, gave each child a gift. All children also received coloring books, crayons and pencils. Each adult received a lovely William Penn calendar. After Santa left, all were invited to stay for refreshments and to continue enjoying themselves with their families, friends and fellow members. A true fraternal afternoon was had by all. We would like to thank the Home Office for all its assistance in making this party the success it is every year. We wish all a very happy and healthy new year. Branch 132 South Bend, IN By Frank J. Wukovits, Jr. National Director Our Christmas party for the children was held on Saturday, Dec. 10 in the William Penn Hall. We had a good turnout with everyone seeming to have a very good time. We were impressed with the generous donation of canned goods the children brought with them to be included in our holiday food baskets for the needy. Rod Danilewicz, "The Polish Wizerd [sic],” put on a great magic act for the kids. They had lots of laughs when TJ od used Frank Wukovits for his fall guy during the act. Emily Redecki volunteered to lead everyone in a medley of Christmas carols, after which Santa (Butch Thompson) made his appearance. Besides the great gifts, the children enjoyed talking with Santa and getting their picture taken with him. Food included pop and ice cream and 15 supreme pizzas which were devoured. Our special thanks go to Ann Horvath, Helen Pécsi, Carol Kumm, Karen Kochanowski, Alex Horvath, Scott Lehmann and Mary Ann Wukovits for putting together such a fine program for the youngsters. We hope many of those who attended the party will join us later this spring for our planned "William Penn Night” at Coveleski Stadium to watch our Class A baseball team, the South Bend Silver Hawks, in action. Branch 159 Phoenixville, PA By Caroline Kovach Branch 159 Coordinator An unusually warm spring-like afternoon ushered in the Branch 159 Christmas party held at McDonald’s Restaurant on Sunday, Dec. 4. As each family arrived at the festively decorated room, they were greeted by Caroline Kovach who gave each adult a package of William Penn essentials to start the new year—calendars, pens, nail files, etc. The children received coloring books and crayons to keep them occupied until all the guests arrived. After the last guests arrived, Caroline welcomed everyone on behalf of the Association and thanked all for coming. An enjoyable lunch was served, and after the last sundae was eaten, the children anxiously wondered if Santa would make an appearance. We decided we would all sing "Jingle Bells” to make Santa appear, but after singing it three times, there was still no Santa. Everyone knew that was Santa’s cue—except Santa. No one told him. After a very short chorus of "Here Comes Santa Claus,” Santa finally arrived, much to the delight of the children. He handed out snowman banks filled with Christmas candy and McDonald’s gift certificates. Santa then sat in the middle of the room for a photo session and listened to the Christmas wish lists of the children. The party ended with each family receiving a small fruit basket. Our warmest holiday greetings are extended to all William Penn members, and special prayers and get well wishes go to those who are ill and in nursing homes. We also offer our prayers for the families of recently departed members. For your insurance needs, please contact Caroline Kovach at (610) 933-8391. A blessed and happy new year to all.
