Fodor) Branch 10 Barton, OH Branch 40 Martins Ferry, OH Branch 349 Weirton, WV By Louis A. Fodor National Director Anticipating a large crowd, the officers of the Ohio Valley Hungarian American Cultural Society reserved two shelters at the Warren Township Park for their picnic on Aug. 22. Everyone brought their favorite dish, and there was enough food to feed twice as many people. The first meal was served at 2:00 p.m. after which many guests played bingo while others exercised their lungs singing to the music of Dan Laslo, Louis Fodor and Francis Duska. At 5:00 p.m. a traditional bacon fry was held, bringing back a lot of memories from both the men and women of how they did it in their locality. Then the rest of the food was eaten as the trio of musicians played requests. About 150 people attended the picnic which was declared one of the best in recent years. Success was guaranteed because of the many people who organized and worked at the picnic: John and Sue Laslo, Bill and Helen Albert, Mary and Joe Tocash, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Kalman, Dan and Margaret Laslo, and Louis and Ethel Fodor. It seemed as if everyone attending pitched in to make sure that all who were there had a good time. The Cultural Society’s annual Harvest Dance will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, at 8:00 p.m. at Someplace Special in Martins Ferry, Ohio. Dorothy and Co. will supply the music. Branch 14 Cleveland, OH By Dawn D. Ward Branch 14 President There’s a nip in the air indicating the beautiful fall season is upon us in Cleveland. It’s hard to believe that summer is over.
