The Service Sacré was part of a day­long retrospective at Merkin Con­cert Hall in New York City in honor of the French composer’s centennary. The composer’s widow, Made­line Milhaud, was in attendance. A reception hosted by the French ambassador was given in honor of Madame Milhaud, Mr. Toth and the other artists on the program. Keith is a graduate of Steel Valley High School, the Oberlin College Observatory of Music in Oberlin, Ohio, and The Juilliard School in New York City. In December, he will celebrate his ninth anniversary as minister of music at First Congregational Church in Danbury, Conn., and as professor of organ and harpsi­chord at Western Connecticut State University. Although residing in Danbury, Keith remains a member of Branch 89 Homestead. We congratulate Keith and wish him continued success in his career. Branch 132 South Bend, IN The next meeting of Branch 132 will be held Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 7:00 p.m. in the meeting room of the William Penn Home, 1024 W. Branch 150 Masontown, PA By Louis Jesso Branch 150 Coordinator At our last meeting the members of Branch 150 Masontown made plans for our annual Christmas party. The party will be held Sunday, Dec. 20, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pal’s Club social hall in Ma­sontown. Invitations will be sent in December. Election of branch officers for 1993 will be held on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pal’s Club social hall. Branch 226 McKeesport, PA By Alexander J. Goydan Branch 226 Secretary Branch 226 will hold its annual Christmas party on Dec. 13 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Stephen’s social hall, 2125 Beacon St. There will be carol singing, refreshments, a buffet lunch provided by the branch officers, and, of course, a visit from Santa Claus. Unusual and extraordinary en­tertainment will be provided by the Dave and Rex Marionettes. Their show has been seen in many area entertainment centers. World favorite characters will sing, dance, blow horns and make people of all ages laugh. The world of fantasy will come alive. The show will begin promptly at 3:30 p.m. Be there! The annual election of branch officers will be held Dec. 12 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s social hall. Please attend this important meeting. Branch 249 Dayton, OH By Steve Horvath Branch 249 President Our first branch meeting follow­ing our summer break was con­ducted on Nov. 7 at St. Stephen’s Church hall. As of the writing of this report, two of our branch officers remained ill and hospi­talized. Barney Kender was at Washington Manor Nursing Home and Frank Hoffer was at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. The 1992-93 season of our mixed bowling league began Nov. 1 with eight teams partici­pating. We wish the best of luck to those bowling in our league. Our annual Christmas party will be held Saturday, Dec. 12, at 5:30 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Church hall. Santa will make an appear­ance, and there will be a puppet show for the children. Raffle tickets are now available for the Christmas party raffle. We appre­ciate your support. Happy news! Congratulations to my daughter and son-in-law on the birth of their first child, Jodi Ann Kabel, born Oct. 29 at 3:18 a.m. She weighed six pounds five ounces and was 19 inches long. Branch 525 Los Angeles, CA By Schloris Gotz Branch 525 Secretary We at Branch 525 were saddened by the recent death of Ilona Papp, wife of Branch President George Papp. Ilona was a very valuable and hard-working person. She held many positions in our branch, the most recent of which was auditor. Ilona will be truly missed by all. We will be making a contribution to the William Penn scholarship fund in her memory. Our deepest sympathy goes to her family. With the holiday season here again Branch 525 has made plans for its Christmas party to be held Dec. 6 at the Hungarian Club in Bloomington, Calif., starting at 2:00 p.m. Santa and the "Old Krampus” will be there to pass out Christ­mas stockings to our young mem­bers. We hope to see all of our members at the party. Branch 590 Cape Coral, FL By Joan Mauerman Branch 590 Reporter At the Oct. 1 meeting of Branch 590, members discussed plans for the branch Christmas party to be held Sunday, Dec. 13, at 2:00 p.m. in Egret Hall. There will be no charge for members, but a $5 donation is requested of guests. Election of branch officers for 1993 will be held prior to the beginning of the party. We hope to see you there. National Director Michael Tomcsak, just back from a two­­week visit to Hungary, spoke on the changes there since the end of the cold war. He also showed souvenirs he brought back from Hungary. Although he enjoyed his visit, he was happy to be back in sunny Florida. While in Sümeg, he stayed at the Franciscan mona­stery with his old friend Father Vitéz, former pastor of Our Lady of Hungary Church in Youngs­town, Ohio. Congratulations to Tony Noel and his new bride Julia László, formerly of McKeesport, Pa. They will live in Cape Coral where Tony is Branch 590 Co­ordinator. Birthday wishes go out to Vi Timmer, Mike Tomcsak and Joan Mauerman. The branch distributed three Thanksgiving baskets to needy families in our area. Heartfelt sympathies are ex­tended to the family of former National Director Frank J. Wu­­kovits Sr. who passed away re­cently in South Bend, Ind. He will be missed by all. He was a true gentleman. Branch 800 Altoona, PA By Vincent Frank Branch 800 President Our branch’s Christmas party will be held Sunday, Dec. 6, at 6:00 p.m. in the social hall of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. We hope many of our members and their families will attend. We especially encourage all juvenile members to attend. Deadline for reservations is Dec. 2. This Christmas season Branch 800 will take part in the Associ­ation’s holiday baskets for needy families program. This charitable act provides a bit of happiness for the poor on Christmas day. Believe me, they are so apprecia­tive and thankful to the William Penn Association. The officers of Branch 800 wish all our members and their families a very blessed Christmas season and good health and pros­perity in 1993. We want all of our sick mem­bers—whether you be at home or in a hospital or nursing home— to know that you are remember­ed in our prayers and rosaries. Branch Vice President Leroy Douglas informed us at our No­vember meetings that he has signed up four new juvenile mem-CHARLESTON, WV — Nation­al Director Louis A. Fodor was elected first vice president of the West Virginia Fraternal Congress during the congress’s 62nd an­nual convention held Oct. 15 to 17 in Charleston. About 90 representatives of the various fraternal benefit soci­eties which operate in West Vir­ginia attended the meeting. Many of the delegates attended contin­uing education programs offered bers. We thank their parents for choosing the William Penn for their children. Robert Aiken was the winner of the 50/50 drawing held at our last meeting. After the meeting all in attendance enjoyed lunch. Branch 8164 Steubenville, OH The members of Branch 8164 recently attended Mass and, after­wards, gathered for a breakfast served by Julia D’Aurora. The Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Bei from Nigeria who is attending the Franciscan Univer­sity of Steubenville. The business portion of the meeting began with a prayer of­fered by Branch President Pete Buffone and the pledge of alle­giance led by President Emeritus Michael Vecchione. Deceased member "Bus” Grossi was re­membered in prayer. Congratulations to National Director Louis Fodor who was elected first vice president of the West Virginia Fraternal Congress during the congress’s recent an­nual meeting in Charleston. This Thanksgiving our branch once again provided several needy families with baskets of food. We thank all those who helped in this worthwhile project. Msgr. Gene Mullett, branch chaplain and pastor of St. An­thony’s Church, reported on re­pairs to the church’s exterior and on plans for further renovations this coming spring. Secretary- Treasurer A1 DiFalco gave the financial report of the branch. Our next meeting will be held Dec. 13 at which time the election of officers for 1993 will take place. Please plan to attend. during the convention. The keynote speaker was Jönni Miklós, secretary of the National Fraternal Congress of America. In addition to Mr. Fodor, other fraternalists elected as officers for the West Virginia Fraternal Congress for 1992-93 were: David L. Meese, president; Dr. William L. Graham, second vice president; Fred Luzader, secre­tary-treasurer; and George Yel­­ich, past president.
