NYÁRI ISKOLA 1991. július 7-től - július 28-ig A Nyári Magyar Iskolát elsősorban a szórványmagyarság szolgálatára létesítette a Magyar Cserkészszövetség, főképpen 10-14 éves gyermekeknek. A háromhetes iskola 72 órát fordít a szorosan vett tanításra. Ez nagyjából ugyanannyi, mint a hétvégi magyar iskola egy tanéve. Az emigráció kiváló pedagógusai és olyan nevelők alkotják a tanári kart, akik nemrég jöttek el Magyarországról. A tanárokkal való állandó együttlét és a mindennapi élet környezetének hátrahagyása (televízió, telefon, angol szó) - igen jelentős hatást gyakorol iskolánk növendékeinek magyar nevelésére. Remek tankönyveket és modern pedagógiai eszközöket használunk. A Sík Sándor cserkészpark erdős-ligetes 100 holdja, a délutáni játékos foglalkozások, kirándulások és fürdés teszik vidám nyaralássá a nyári iskolát. A park New York államban, Buffaló városától délkeletre 75 mérföldnyi távolságra fekszik Fillmore község határában. Már szervezzük idei nyári iskolánkat, és lehet jelentkezni. Akit érdekel a részvétel - mint diákot vagy mint tanárt -, annak kérdéseire szívesen válaszolunk. További felvilágosítás és jelentkezési ív kapható az alábbi címeken: Hungarian Scout Association P. She was chosen through community nomination and a vote of the Gateway Publications editorial board. A lifelong resident of Verona, Phyllis contributes her time and energy to many groups, including Riverview Community Action Corp. in neighboring Oakmont, the local Meals on Wheels program, St. Joseph’s Church Guild and the William Penn Association. Phyllis has found a surrogate family of sorts as a member of the ReCreations clown group at Unity Presbyterian Church. The colorfully costumed group regularly visits elderly patients at Oakmont Nursing Center and Presbyterian SeniorCare in addition to making special appearances at holiday parades and festivals. Phyllis hopes to contribute more of her talents at Woodside Place, a facility for those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease which is under construction. An experienced craft maker, she is looking forward to helping future Woodside residents with quilting or other therapeutic projects. She has come to know a number of local residents from her jobs as temporary housekeeper and nanny for needy families, and credits both her parents for teaching her the importance of helping others. We at the William Perm join the residents of Verona in saluting Phyllis and congratulate her on earning this recognition. She is an excellent example of what a true fratemalist should be.
