William Penn Life, 1990 (25. évfolyam, 2-10. szám)
1990-07-01 / 7. szám
July 1990, William Penn Life, Page 3 Festival Continued from Page 1 These will include, among other games, the "penny scramble” and the popular pirulta. Another of the children’s favorites, the face painting booth, will also be open through the afternoon. Parents can join their children for a free hayride around the beautiful 500-plus acres of the Home’s property. Guests can also take a guided tour of our Home (a registered historic landmark) and see first-hand the good works their donations are supporting. Tours will be offered at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. only. Those wishing to escape the summer heat can relax under the large tent that will be erected near the Festival thoroughfare or take a dip in the Home’s in-ground swimming pool located at the top of the hill. Pool hours will be from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. Guests can also sit back and enjoy the music of several local performers, including a band of Hungarian musicians. Later in the afternoon, there will be performances by two area Hungarian dance groups: the William Penn Association Magyar Folk Dancers of McKeesport, Pa., and the Hungarian Ethnic Group of Western Pennsylvania. Throughout the day, guests will be able to purchase chances on several raffles being held during the Festival. Guests may enter a drawing to have their names inscribed on the Memorial Honor Roll Plaque displayed in the Home. The adults may also take a chance on the basket of cheer raffle. One large basket of cheer and several smaller baskets will be available, along with a number of additional prizes. This list of activities is by no means complete. To list all the things that will be happening at the Festival would be nearly impossible. Organizers say that just about anything that makes a summer day enjoyable for the entire family will be at the Festival. We hope that all of our members and friends and people living in communities near our Home will bring their families and join us for this special event. All proceeds raised will go towards the purchase of a new van to transport the residents of the Home. During the past 68 years, many of our aging members have enjoyed the sunset of their lives there with dignity and love. All proceeds from our COMMUNITY FESTIVAL will benefit the William Penn Home and help preserve it for the future — perhaps for your parents at our Home or your children. We invite you to share in two ways. First, bring your family to the Festival for a day of family fun, games, rides, swimming and refreshments. The day’s activities start with an ecumenical service at 11:00 a.m. Secondly, help support your Home for the elderly by making a contribution to our Memorial Tribute Program. Please mail your contribution of $1.00 or more to William Penn Home, R.D. 3, Brinker Road, Wellsburg, W.Va. 26070. Mark the envelope: COMMUNITY FESTIVAL. For each $1.00 contribution you will receive one chance on the drawing for inscription of your name on our Memorial Honor Roll Plaque; 2nd Prize - $50; 3rd Prize - $25 (see entry form below). For a $5.00 contribution, you may complete all six entries. Mail the stubs with your contribution. All contributions will go directly to providing a new van for our residents. We invite you to join us and bring the family! Your sharing means your caring as a true fraternalist. For The Festival Committee, PAUL T. KOVÁCS, Chairman LOUIS A.
