April 1989, William Penn Life, Page 3 Association prepares for annual golf tourney PITTSBURGH — Since the arrival of spring a few weeks ago, many William Penn members have been visiting their local golf courses and refining their skills in time for the Sixth Annual WPA National Golf Tournament. This popular summertime fraternal event will be held this year on July 14 and 15 at the Tam O’Shanter Golf Course in West Middlesex, Pa. Hotel accommodations for golfers and their guests will be at the nearby Sheraton Inn. For the second year in a row, the tournament’s main attraction will be the hole-in-one contest. The first golfer to score an ace on the designated par-3 hole will drive home in a new car, courtesy of the William Penn. But the contest will be just one of many enjoyable activities to be held over the weekend. The weekend will start with the traditional Friday night reception for golfers and their guests. It will be a time to enjoy some good food and refreshments and to reunite with old acquaintances. The reception will once again feature the popular putting contest for the benefit of the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation. For a one dollar donation, guests will have the chance to put their putting skills to the test while their donations will help many of our young members finance their higher education.
