In the Basket of Cheer raffle, the lucky winner of a large basket filled with various spirits was Ernie Szemko of North Versailles, Pa. Earl Shaffer, a resident of the William Penn Home, won a case of 24 different imported beers. The third prize of a small basket of cheer was won by Lisa and Emily Furedy. The day ended, just as it had began earlier at the traditional field Mass, with everyone feeling thankful for the friendship and fraternal spirit they shared. While the success of the Festival cannot truly be measured in dollars, organizers did note that the Festival raised more than $7,400 in net proceeds for the home for the elderly. That represents a 43-percent increase over the net proceeds from last year’s Festival. More importantly, it meant that the Home had met its financial goal for its cable television fund. "Now our residents will have a wider variety of entertainment from which to choose,” said Home Administrator Paul T. Kovács. Installation of the cable system was recently completed. Meanwhile, some people are already making plans for next year’s Festival. "I will definitely bring my family back next year,” said one man. Danko. In an announcement welcoming the new agents and agencies to the William Penn sales force, President Danko said the additions reflect the Association’s continuing efforts to build a stronger fraternal society. "The addition of these new agencies stem from our commitment towards improving the services we provide our members and from our dedication towards enrolling new members,” President Danko said. The new agencies will service Florida, Newjersey, New York, and eastern Pennsylvania. "We believe that our expanded sales force will be of great benefit to both our members and our Association,” he said.
