The branch officers served as the committee in charge of arrangements and really put forth their best efforts in making this the most successful event yet. The guest — children, parents, grandparents — began arriving at 2:00 p.m. and by 2:30 p.m. the decorated tables were well filled. Following a social period when light refreshments were served, the program began with the singing of Christmas carols, led by our own Helen Stipkovits accompanied on the piano by Barbara By Barbara House Branch 18 Secretary DETROIT — Our election of officers was held Monday, Dec. 1, 1986. Wukovits Branch 132 Reporter SOUTH BEND, IN — On Saturday, Nov. 29, 1986, Branch 132, South Bend, held its Fourth Annual Membership Dinner- Dance. The event once again proved to be a lovely evening for all those who attended. There was a free cocktail hour which started at 6:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m. a feast of Hungarianstyle breaded chicken, sausage, rice and gravy, salad and cake was served. We thank the members of the Ladies Auxiliary who prepared the delicious dinner: Helen Almassy, Pauline Meyhart, Goldie Pal, Norma Palmer, Lillian Rhine-Botkin. The singing went better than ever and also a new first — singing of Hungarian Christmas carols by many of the adults. All said it was just great. With the singing of "Jingle Bells” our very enthusiastic Santa Claus made his entrance. He greeted each child with a gift of candy and a fresh $2 bill. Many of the children had their photos taken with Santa while they sat on his lap, adding to their previous lists sent to him and admonishing him not to forget. All now settled down to enjoy the puppet show presented by Sadecky Puppets. This group was very professional with excellent props and amazing puppets. The story "Blitzen Is Lost” was presented in such an interesting manner that it held the attention of all for the entire show. With the conclusion of the performance dinner was served. This was an excellent meal catered by Woody’s Little Italy Restaurant. Everyone had more than enough to eat and drink. After the socializing was ended, all slowly departed saying it was the best branch party ever. We are grateful to all who very proud. To help defray costs, the group is having fund raisers. At the party, the children were given presents and lunch and were entertained by a magician. A good time was had by all. The dance group also hosted a card party Dec. 8. After dinner the Season’s Orchestra performed, giving all a pleasant evening of music and dancing. In other branch news, the ofhelped in making this the success it was. Present were about 60 children and 85 adults — our largest attendance on record. Our youngest attendee was 2-weekold Baby Honse, and our oldest were proud grandparents in their 80s. This is indeed a great family affair. Our branch officers were very ably assisted by branch members Helen Stipkovits, John Sabo, Alex Goydan, Helen and Frank Domenic, Anna Mae Rietski, Anthony Brusco and, of course, our most important guest, Santa Claus played by John Tusai, a marvelous Santa who we hope to see again and again. Thanks to all for your able and most welcome assistance. We were pleased to have National President Gay B. Banes and National Secretary E.E. Vargo and their wives present. We at Branch 226 are grateful to the Home Office for their assistance in enabling us to have such a wonderful affair for our members.
