Looking on is Treasurer Jo Anne Grinarmi. Branch 8114 Clarion, PA The members of Branch 8114 recently helped organize and run the annual Immaculate Concep­tion Parish picnic. At the branch’s Aug. 18 meet­ing, Branch President Robert Walter thanked all those who participated in making the picnic a success. Father Monty from the parish attended the meeting and asked the branch if it would be willing to help buy refreshments to wel­come Clarion University students to the parish. The branch responded by do­nating $50. The members of Branch 8114 also gathered on Sept. 13 for their annual Steak Fry. The event took the place of the branch’s regular business meeting for Sept­ember. Branch 8121 St. Marys, PA Branch 8121 held a regular busi­ness meeting on Sept. 2 at St. Marys School. Among the items discussed by the members was the insurance folder sent to the branch by the Home Office. Members also discussed the nomination of officers for the upcoming branch elections. The members then signed cards and prepared favors to be sent to residents at the William Penn Home for the Elderly in Wells­­burg, W.Va. After exchaning coupon and refund slips, the members enjoy­ed games and a social. Branch 8155 Steelton, PA The members of Branch 8155 met Sept. 9 at St. John the Evange­list Church to help clean up the storage room at the church. The branch also recently came to the aid of a parishoner in need by making a cash donation and supplying groceries. The branch plans to buy new wine chalices and cruets for St. John’s Church. Branch 8164 Steubenville, OH The members of Branch 8164 met Sept. 13 at St. Anthony’s Rectory meeting room for its regular monthly meeting. The meeting opened with a prayer and the Pledge of Alle­giance. Vice President Angela D’Aurora was absent as she was attending the Pope’s Mass in South Carolina. She will present a report on the Mass at the next meeting. That meeting will also feature a report from National Auditor Louis A. Fodor on the 31st Gen­eral Convention. At the September meeting, Msgr. Rickter spoke on the short­age of priests in America and the surplus of priests in Africa. Mike Vecchione also spoke about a film on Fatima broadcast on Channel 13. Branch 8222 Pittsburgh, PA Branch 8222 held a regular busi­ness meeting on Sept. 10 at the home of Branch President Nor­bert Clair. President Clair read a letter to the branch from Father Wersing who is in Tanzania. The branch donated money for beauty supplies for the beauty shop at the St. Joseph Home. Members also learned that the 1987-1988 schedule for St. James Church has been approved by the church council. Branch 8286 Philadelphia, PA The members of Branch 8286 recently helped Father George Spaits of St. Vincent’s parish celebrate the 44th anniversary of his ordination into the Catholic priesthood. A "bring your own food” din­ner was held at which the children performed for Father Spaits in their Hungarian costumes. The branch also presented Father Spaits with a gift of $100. On Sept. 6 branch members gathered at St. Vincent’s for a regular business meeting. Mem­bers discussed the Harvest Raffle to be held in November. It was also announced that the branch donated 15 bags of cloth­ing to St. John’s Hospice. Branch 8326 Smithton, PA On June 14, Branch 8326 held a special reception to honor Branch Secretary Gertrude Sofran and member Helen Kundrat for their dedication to the branch over the past 12 years and their service to St. Timothy’s parish and the Smithton community. Silk floral arrangements and a certificate of recognition were presented to Secretary Sofran. Helen Kundrat was unable to attend the affair, so her flowers and certificate were delivered to her home. Members also gathered Sept. 27 for a special dinner cruise on the Gateway Clipper. The branch will also participate in the Night at the Races to be held Saturday, Nov. 7, at St. Timothy’s Church. Branch 8340 Dundalk, MD The members of Branch 8340 met Sept. 13 at St. Rita’s School Cafeteria for their regular busi­ness meeting. Among the items discussed were the upcoming branch memorial mass, branch budget and Branch 8330’s anni­versary dinner. Branch 8369 Philadelphia, PA Branch 8369 held a regular busi­ness meeting on Aug. 18. The meeting was called to order by Branch President Gilbert Evange­­listo. A financial report was given by John Basciano. The members then made final preparations for the Children’s Day in the Park held at West Point Park on Aug. 26. WANTED Children between the ages of 8 and 14 who are interested in learning the Hungarian language and culture while experienc­ing the sites and sounds of the “Land of the Magyars’’. The William Penn wants to give your children that oppor­tunity next summer by sponsoring them at a special four-week Hungarian cultural education camp at beautiful Lake Balaton, followed by a five-day tour of Hungary. We’ll pay for all rooms, meals, ground transportation and fees for the camp and the tour. You’ll pay for your child’s transport­ation to and from Hungary. Chaperons will be provided. Acceptance will be based on your child's academic record and a short essay.
