Branch 22, Roebling, NJ Branch 150, Masontown, PA By Barbara A. Emri Secretary Once again the enthusiasm and vibrancy of our small guests made our annual Christmas party an overwhelming success. The youngsters were treated to magic tricks and balloon sculptures by “Jingles the Clown,” and his friends, Daisy and Rosebud. And the highlight of the event was the appearance of Santa Claus who brought gifts for all of the children. We were privileged to have as visitor at the party, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Hody. Mr. Hody is the Career Agent for the New Jersey area. Branch members are eagerly looking forward to the William Penn Association’s 100th anniversary celebration and we hope to join with many of you during the festivities in May. The highlight of our 1985 activities was the bowling tournament. Our appreciation to the various members who helped insure its success. We were honored to be one of the host branches. Officers elected for 1986 include George Bucs, president; Dale Cole, vice-president, Barbara Emri, secretary; Zoltán Emri, treasurer; and Dennis Kish and Jennifer Emri, auditors. The annual Branch Christmas party was held at the Pal’s Club Social Hall, Masontown, where the children participated in various games and contests and sang Christmas carols. Prizes were awarded to the contest winners. the club facilities. Branch officers for 1986 are Louis C. Nagy Sr., president; Joseph Dalnoky, vice-president; Dave Jesso, secretary; Louis Jesso, treasurer; and Julius Jesso and William Dunham, auditors. Branch 8036, Scottdale, PA Branch 8036 recently participated in the Scottdale, Pa. Library’s 75th anniversary celebration by providing cookies during an open house program and by presenting a book as part of the ongoing support of the library by Branch members. President Glenn P. Johnson Jr. said the Branch involvement was arranged through the efforts of Eugene Beran, Mayor of Scottdale and also president of the Library Board. Mayor Béran is a branch member. A letter of acknowledgement for the Branch efforts was received by Joann E. Guesman, the librarian. She wrote, “On behalf of the Scottdale Public Library Board and staff, I want to thank you once again for donating a book. It has been placed in the library in honor of our 75th anniversary. Thank you, also, for the cookies for our open house. It was greatly appreciated.” Branch members Glenn Johnson, Ted Kramarski and Richard Malone recently presented framed certificates to 22 servers involved in the Altar Boy Program at St. John’s Byzantine Church. Fr. John Salko is the Pastor. Refreshments were enjoyed by the servers, their parents and branch members in the social hall following mass. This was the 15th consecutive year in which the branch sponsored the program in the Scottdale- Everson churches. Fr. George Alderson is now the Branch Spiritual Advisor, succeeding the late Fr. William G. Gavron. Branch 19 New Brunswick, NJ By Ruth Vasvary Vice-President As part of the holiday season, Branch 19, with National Director and Branch President Joseph Arvay as chairman, participated in a “Food for the Needy Drive” in New Brunswick. Collection points were established at the various Hungarian churches. After the food was collected, it was arranged in baskets and delivered by Branch members. The project was one of several activities highlighting the month of December. One of the best, of course, was the annual family Christmas party held in the Bayard Street Presbyterian Church Hall where Director Arvay extended greetings to parents and children. Entertainment featured Jonji the Clown Magician, always a favorite at the parties.
