Allegheny East Fraternal District held a Communion Breakfast on Sunday, November 17, 1985, at Michael Pirolla’s Restaurant. John Kenawell, Executive Vice- President was a guest at the affair. Also attending were John Liberto, Mary Dialioso and other members. Ten dollars was donated to the Mt. St. George Home towards the Christmas tree. BRANCH 159—The sixth annual Christmas party for Branch 159 was held in the social room of the Parkside United Church of Christ in Phoenixville. Branch Coordinator William Kovach welcomed the many children, their parents and grandparents. Following the singing of carols, accompanied by Mrs. Nancy Bagoly at the piano, the children and adults were entertained by Gerard Beaushesne and his puppet show. Santa Claus (John Serdy, Sr.) made his appearance to complete the happy event. Branch 88 Yatesboro, Pa. By Alex Chobody Branch Manager The Family Christmas Party was held December 14 at 3:00 P.M. Attending were approx­imately 90 children. Many parents and grandparents also attended, filling our hall to capacity. After talking to Santa Claus, each child was given a treat. The program consisted of singing Christmas carols by the entire group. Everyone en­joyed the food prepared by Branch President, Tony DeVivo. A good time was had by all. Thanks to the Board of Directors for providing us with a general financial contribu­tion. Branch 24, Chicago, IL Branch 24 held its annual election of officers at the Ivanhoe Park Fieldhouse in Riverdale, Illinois in December and Charles Akai was elected president. Other officers include Paul Novak, vice-president; Bert Garszik, recording secretary; Betty Hartly, treasurer; Betty Akai, corresponding secretary and reporter; and Mary Bertok, auditor. A Christmas party followed the meeting and featured a delicious chicken dinner. Officers and branch members express sincere thanks to the Home Office for its generous allotment which helped insure the success of the party. BRANCH 24 OFFICERS—Newly elected officers of Branch 24 include Charles Akai, president; Betty Akai, corresponding secretary and reporter; Bert Garszik, recording secretary; Betty Hartly, treasurer; Paul Novak, vice­­president; and Mary Bertok, auditor. The other picture is a group scene taken during dinner. Branch 187 Granite City, Illinois News Davis Nagy, Sr., age 91, of Granite City for 63 years, passed away October 31, 1985. Born in Hungary, Mr. Nagy retired in 1962 from G.C. Steel where he was employed for 40 years as a crane operator. Mr. Nagy was Branch Mana­ger and Branch Treasurer of the Verhovay Fraternal Association, which later became the William Penn Association. He also was a delegate to several William Penn General Conventions. Besides his wife, the former Anna Elonka, he is survived by a son,' Davis Nagy, Jr., a daughter, Mrs. John (Irene) Doroghazi, and his grand­children: Mrs. Elizabeth (Doro­ghazi) Dortch, Dr. Robert Doroghazi, Dr. Paul Doro­ghazi, John M. Doroghazi and Dr. Keith Nagy. The body was donated to the Washington University School of Medicine and the Eye Bank. The William Penn Associa­tion expresses its sincere sym­pathy to his wife and family. May he rest in peace. Blair County Fraternal District The William Penn Associa­tion recently presented a check to The Most Rev. James J. Hogan for use at the Hunt­ingdon Industrial School where he is Chaplain. Among those participating in the presentation were Leroy Douglas, past honorary su­preme vice-president of the former Knights of St. George; Charles Matko, president of the Blair County District; Harold Robinson and Joseph Masic, vice-presidents. Bishop Hogan uses the funds to buy prayer books, rosaries, missals and other items the state does not pro­vide. The Blair Fraternal Dis­trict also donates to the chaplain of the Blair County Prison. The District held its annual Christmas party in mid-De- -** cember in St. Leo’s School Hall. Entertainment was pro­vided by Msgr. Fabor J. Mal­low and the Allegheny Aires of Altoona. 15 T
