Sabo The third annual Membership Dinner Dance held by the William Penn Social Club on November 30, 1985 demonstrated a great Fraternal gathering with the Banquet Hall filled to capacity of 300 members. The usual free cocktail hour was held between 6 and 7 P.M., after which a delicious Hungarian-style dinner was served. The menu included breaded chicken with tarhonya, home-made sausage and hurka and all the trimmings. During and after dinner the music was furnished by the “Seasons Orchestra” for dancing until the early hours in the morning. South Bend, Branch 132 Annual Family Christmas Party was held on December 14, in the William Penn Hall. This was one of the most successful Christmas parties, with approximately 200 children and parents. The Christmas program was opened by National Director, Frank J. Wukovits, Jr., who welcomed the children and their parents with greetings on behalf of the Home Office, the National Directors and Officers, also Branch 132 Officers and Directors. The program began with singing of Christmas carols led by Shirley Rolko and her group of seven choristers. All the children and parents joined in the singing. Professional Magician IN “Alexander the Great” and his granddaughter again entertained the children and their parents with very interesting magic feats and was very much enjoyed by everyone. After the entertainment and singing of the Christmas carols the Happy Santa Claus arrived in the person of Steve Pécsi. Santa Claus greeted and presented the children with candy-filled Christmas stockings, after which the children had the opportunity to pick a toy of their choice. Following this, the children were served refreshments — potato chips, ice cream, pop and other goodies by Santa’s Helpers, who were: Mrs. Ruth Baumgartner, Mrs. Theresa Myers, Mrs. Gabriella Whalen, Mrs. Gladys Wukovits, Mrs. Virginia Wolford, Mrs. Mary Ann Wukovits, Mrs. Shirley Rolko, Mr. Frank J. Farkas, Sr., Mr. Leslie C. Baumgartner and Mr. Frank J. A New Fraternal Project was initiated by the Home Office, giving a “TURKEY BASKET” for the Thanksgiving Season. We at Branch 132 participated in donating TURKEY BASKETS to two needy families, totaling 13 people. Our Welfare and Charity chairperson, Mrs. Ruth Baumgartner, was entrusted in purchasing sufficient amounts of groceries and turkeys for these families.
