Verna Arbanas, Charles Arbanas and Bill Janida are packing bags for the childrens Christmas Party at Holy Family Institute Dixmont. Branch 8020 Branch 8020 McKees Rocks spreads the joy of Christmas to the old folks, the mentally retarded, and the children. This year was a busy one for the members of branch 8020 McKees Rocks spreading Christmas joy to 242 individuals with Christmas Parties. The first one took place in our home for the aging in Wellsburg. As always we go all out for the residents, sisters, Father Becher and the employees. With a big turn out of our members the Holy Names Society, The McKees Rocks Fire Department, Sto Rox High School Choral Group and The Joy Bells and a visit by Santa at the Robinson Development center for 132 severely retarded was hosted with a beautiful Christmas Party. This year we added another group, the children of Holy Family Institute now in Dixmont. The kids were treated to cookies, ice cream and a bag full of goodies. Santa was there along with a magician. Every year as in the past years members and their wives attended a football banquet sponsored by Sto Rox booster club of McKees Rocks. The boosters are great supporters of Branch 8020 Christmas Parties held every year. We were deeply honored to have Mr. John Lovaz the National Treasurer join us at our table. Our Branch 8020 was recognized from the podium Toast Mas­ter at the party was Chuck Fusina a pro football player now with the New Jersey Generals. This month Branch 8020 will present a check in the amount of $1000.00 towards our homes in Wellsburg. Branch 189 Continued from page 17 column 5 During the fall season last year, a party was held in Oc­tober at which time awards were presented to various costume winners, including Jennie Carman, Jeff Strait and Joyce Carlson and Drew Hearthington. Music was pro­vided by the famous “Cop­perfield,” a band first organized when the members were young boys and one that has developed into “big boys.” Everyone is reminded that now is the time for all social members of Alliance Branch to sign up for 1985. FAREWELL — As the sign in the background indicates, Alliance Chapter members expressed a special thank you to Pug and Penny Duruttya, Branch managers, for their five and a half years of service. IN APPRECIATION — President Mike Duruttya offers applause after Treasurer Zoliié Cibulas presented Rosemary Popovich with a token of appreciation for her efforts in arranging the program for the children’s Christmas party at the Alliance Branch. The William Penn Branch number 296 held a meeting on the 19th day of December and they elected the follow­ing officers for the incoming year: John Balia the Presi­dent, John Simon the Vice- President, Pauline Becsi the Rec. Secretary and Jim Mozga the Treasurer. The following were elected as auditors: Sue Szalai, Mary Wesoloski, and Jennie Wislie. Following the meeting there was a buffet luncheon. The William Penn Branch number 296 had a “Christmas Party” for the members and children on December 22, 1984 at 2:00 p.m. Continued on page 24 column 4 Branch 296 The William Penn Associa­tion Branch 296 of Spring­­dale, PA concluded the first half of the bowling season with the Cards winning with a 40 win and 32 loss. Second place went to the Moons with a 39-3 record. Ed Chelko had high average with 175 followed by Joe Balia with a 174. In the ladies division Eva Hess and Mary Suzios were first with a 164 average and Charlotte Greenwald and Mary Wesoloski were second with a 149 average. For the men Joe Balia had 596 for three games while Ed Chelko was second with 590. For the women Mary Suzio was first with 561 followed by Mary Wesoloski with a 537. In the team event High 18
