Minutes authorizes the National Officers to sign the Merger Agreement. (Roll Call) All yes. 45) In accordance with the Merger Agreement, the Board of Directors will now elect three of its members who will be members of the Pension Committee of the Catholic Knights of St. George Pension Fund. The following members were nominated: Executive Vice President John Kenawell; Directors William Haberstroh and Elmer Toth. Nominations were closed and the Board unanimously elected Executive Vice President John Kenawell and Directors William Haberstroh and Elmer Toth as Directors on this Pension Committee. 46) It was moved, seconded and the Board adopted that every Board member and National Officer be required to cast his or her vote on any matter before the Board unless there is a legal conflict of interest involved. 47) National Secretary Gus G. Nagy submitted a report on the tour to Hungary. To date, there are 51 members who have made reservations for the trip. There are still some items that must be clarified with the travel agent, Mr. Vass, and the cost of the various tours in Hungary. 48) National Secretary Gus G. Nagy submitted a report of the mail referendum on the recent By-Law change. There were 122 ballots mailed to all delegates. There were 104 ballots returned. 103 ballots voted yes. 1 ballot voted no. National Secretary Gus G. Nagy submitted certification of this balloting. The Board of Directors accepted the National Secretary's report and certification. Certificate is attached to the end of these Board Minutes. 49) The Board of Directors acknowledged receipt of letters of thanks from the following: First Hungarian Reformed Church of Homestead, Sportsmen Club; American Hungarian Educators Association, Pittsburgh; Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Charles; Youngstown American Hungarian Club; Vice President Kenawell acknowledged receipt of a donation from Mrs. Irene Kuhn for a donation in memory of Charles Kuhn; Alex Chobody and 0f7 ficers of Branch 88; Committee for Celebration of Leslie Konnyu's Literary Golden Jubilee; Missionary y 5 / tei Sisters of the Sacred Heart from Knights of St. George Home; Father Miklós Dengl, Katolikus Magyarok Vasarnapja; Tamburitzans Institute of Folk Arts; Jeffrey Ward, Agency Manager, Cleveland, Ohio; Joseph Toma, Advisory Board Member; Dr. Victor Molnár, McKeesport, Pa.; John Laslo, retired Mayor of Martins Ferry, Ohio and Reverend Edwin Burke, St. Ladislaus Church, South Norwalk, Ct. 50) President Sabo reported he has received a letter from Mr. Henry Shozda, formerly with the Catholic Knights of St. George requesting six months severence pay. Following a discussion of this subject, the Board of Directors denied this request. 51) President Sabo submitted a pe quest from the American Hungarian Foundation, New Brunswick, New Jersey. It was moved, seconded and the Board of Directors authorized a donation of $2,000 to the American Hungarian Foundation. f ~' 52) President Sabo reported the 7 request for a "Hungarian Chair" at the University of Pittsburgh. Following a discussion of this request, it was determined the cost to the Association would be prohibitive. The Board of Directors acknow- / ledged this request. —* 53) The Board of Directors acknowledged receipt of request for support of the Summer Youth Camp Conference of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America. 54) Vice President Albert J. Stelkovics read a letter from former President Julius Macker. He congratulated the newly elected National Officers and Directors. He stated we should commence now in preparation of celebrating our 1lOQihi— Anniversary in 1986. The 5oard acknowledged Mr. Macker's letter rand designated Mr. Stelkovics, who / is the historian of the Association to A- commence gathering information for ( the publication of a special edition of l our official publication. ^ 55) It was moved, seconded and the Board authorized a donation of $300.00 to the Hungarian room at the University of Pittsburgh. ^r- 56) The Board of Directors J acknowledged the request of Direc/ tor William Kohut and the Hungarian / Reformed Federation pertaining to the cooperative establishment of a . NJ08901 National Golf Tournament in l McKeesport, Pa., and Director Bar- \ bara Botkin and her husband cochair this event. 58) President Sabo informed the Board that he will by flying to Washington, D.C. tomorrow to meet with the President of the United States, President Ronald Reagan in the oval office. Mr. Sabo deems this to be a great honor to represent the William Penn Association on this occasion. 59) Director Kenawell informed the Board that he is working with a committee preparing for the annual carnival to be held the later part of July at Mount St. George. He extended a cordial invitation to all the Directors and National Officers to attend if possible. 60) It was moved, seconded and the Board authorized that Director John Kenawell and Fred Maitz participate in the William Penn Association Pension Plan retroactive to their date of employment with the Catholic Knights of St. George. 61) Director Joseph Arvay stated that he and Director Emri have contacted the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Brunswick, N.J. and rooms are available for the 1985 National Bowling Tournament. The bowling alleys are also located very near to the hotel. Further arrangements will continue in preparing for this event. 62) It was moved, seconded and approved that Chairman of the Board Stephen G. Danko, together with Mrs. Danko, represent the William Penn Association at a 5-day world conference of the Hungarian World Federation to be held in Budapest the last week of August 1 984. 63) Chairman of the Board Stephen G.
