Minutes of the Board of Directors Quarterly Meeting Minutes of the Board of Directors Meeting of the William Penn Association held March 26-28, 1984 in the Norway Room of the William Penn Hotel, Pittsburgh, PA. 1) Chairman of the Board, Stephen G. Danko, called the meeting of the Board of Directors to order at 10:00 A.M. He welclomed everyone present and extended best wishes for a fruitful meeting. 2) National President John Sabo welcomed the Board of Directors, National Officers, Auditing Commit­tee members, Advisory Board members, Medical Director and General Counsel. He extended greetings as our new President of the Association. President Sabo stated that since he took office the burden of responsibility has been heavy, however he enjoys meeting these responsibilities. Mr. Sabo is happy to be working with the Board of Directors and he pledged that he will carry out the duties of the Presi­dent and the directives of the Board of Directors to the best of his ability. The agenda is lengthy and he is hopeful we will be able to complete discussion of each of its points. Former President Elmer Charles is still at home recuperating from his ill­ness. He extends greetings and best wishes for a fruitful meeting. President Sabo stated that since he took office, many discussions and meetings have taken place and he feels we are progressing on the right track. Mr. Sabo informed the Board that March 1 5th was observed as Hungarian Freedom Day. He announced the following deaths: Mrs. Helen Kohut, mother of Director William C. The following were hospitalized since the last Board Meeting: Elmer Charles, Retired National President; Joseph Toma, Advisory Board Member; Francis A. Furedy, Home Office Employee; Rose Ann Rapagna, Home Office Employee. The President announced that the Association will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 1986. We should commence preparing for this auspicious occasion. We should also print a special edition of our publica­tion commemorating this anniver­sary. 3) Director Botkin extended con­gratulations on behalf of all the Board members to Chairman Stephen G. Danko upon the birth of his son. 4) The members present rose and pledged Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. 5) Vice President Albert J. Stel­­kovics offered the following invoca­tion: Heavenly Father! We beseech Thee to bless this august body of officials who are en­trusted with care and management of the affairs of its many thousands of beneficial members. Guide us in our deliberations so that our decisions be fair and equitable to all who are members of this great, 98 year old fraternal benefit society. Help us to provide for whatever needs our membership may need or want. Help us to remember our heritage and recall in our minds the heroic struggle for freedom of our Magyar forefathers on March 15, 1848 and October 1956. Finally, "Help us Lord and give us light so that we do not stand in our own way. Let us do from morning to night what should and need be done and give us dean visions of the con­sequences of our deliberative ac­tions", (Goethe). We ask for these in the name of your son, Jesus.
