Pittsburgh, Pa., 15233 Branch 14 Cleveland, Ohio This promises to be an exciting year for Branch 14, led by our new officers for 1984: President, Steve E. Lesco; Vice President, Susan E. Maddle; Treasurer, Jeffrey Ward; Secretary, Julie A. Stypa; Auditors, Charles Hartman and Teresa Lesco; Sgt. at Arms, Margaret Setlock. Our heartfelt appreciation to our former officers. We, the new officers, will strive to continue their excellent examples. An early reminder, by popular demand Branch 14 will be hosting a “SUMMER PICNIC”. Date: Sunday, July 15, 1984. Location: Saxon Acres—White Road in Willoughby Hills. Time: 1:00 - 8:00 P.M. Our musical entertainment will be furnished by the renowned Frank Borisz. In addition, we will have our delicious homemade meals including genuine Hungarian strudel and fun for all ages. Picnic facilities are available fpr those wishing to pack a picnic basket. Ticket information will be forthcoming. Mark your calendars now—you wouldn’t want to miss this special event of the summer!!! At future meetings we will be discussing the possibilities of organizing an excursion. At our February meeting we spoke with a travel agent about a trip to Las Vegas. We hope to plan something for early 1985. Details on this will be published as they are decided on at our meetings. Why not be a deciding factor and attend the meetings. Our meetings are held on the FIRST TUESDAY of each month at the Howard Johnson Motor Lodge at East 55th Street just off the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway, at 7:30 P.M. 18 If you haven’t heard, we have had many exceptionally happy members at our meetings. These people were the recipients of our door prize drawings. Our past prizes have included: November—turkeys; December— hams; February—Valentine candy; March—grocery gift certificates. Our thanks to all who have braved our winter weather to attend the meetings and as we all come out of “hibernation” this Spring, we hope to see more friends at our meetings!!! The hotel accommodations at the Royal York Hotel was really as beautiful as stated, and the tour of the City of Toronto was really worth the trip. The next great event will be our National Bowling Tournament which will be held in Columbus, Ohio. Hope all of you that are planning on attending, have sent in your team entries. This is always such a fun weekend, and we would hate to have you miss the deadline, so ... if you haven’t taken care of this, please do so immediately. The William Penn Dancers held a most successful Bake Sale, Saturday, April 21st. All those good “Easter Goodies” were gone in no time at all. On Tuesday, May 1st, you may take advantage of “BUY ONE AND GET ONE FREE DINNER”. That’s right!!!! And . . . this time we will be serving both chicken paprikas and stuffed cabbage. Get your friends together, make your reservations and we guarantee you will enjoy the meal, as well as your evening with your friends. Remember your Mother on “MOTHER’S DAY” by treating her to a meal she will thoroughly enjoy at the William Penn Social Club.. By the way, are you a gambler? Do you like the glamour of bright lights? Do you like the excitement of shows? Well get ready!!!! The William Penn Social Club is sponsoring a trip to Las Vegas on October 18, 19, 20 and 21st. Accommodations will be at the Imperial Palace Hotel for three nights and four days, leaving from Detroit Metro. Total package price is $299.00 per person. A $50.00 deposit is required to assure us a seat by June 15th. If you desire any other information, please contact our Fraternal Co-ordinator, Darlene Szatmári. More complete information will be forthcoming to all members. Anna Smolnik, one of our 50 year members honored in 1983, passed away March 24th. Our deepest sympathy to those she leaves behind. Her daughter Anna Papp and son Julius Papp, a granddaughter and a grandson. No other news for now, but we do hope to see you at the National Bowling Tournament. Fraternally yours, Betty Holguin, Treasurer Branch 18 Branch 18 Ladies Auxiliary Detroit, Michigan The Ladies Auxiliary with their newly elected officers for 1984 are progressing very nicely. Our President, Eleanor Kender is conducting the meeting promptly and efficiently. A new member has been added to our roster, Kathleen Stangis, hoping she will be a member for many years to come. Welcome Kathleen, into our fellowship. With our sick, Martha Balosé, Helen Hamill and Ann Leny have not been feeling up to power, Secretary Louise cheered them with a get well greeting card. At our April meeting it was nice to see Julia Danko and Mary Kato back from Florida, rested and relaxed. Our President, Eleanor Kender and members congratulated Julia Danko as a new grandmother for she has a new grandson. At our March meeting all the ladies wished our past president Elvira Kubovics and husband Leslie a Happy Anniversary and birthday wishes to husband Leslie. We hope you have many more with the best of health and happiness. Our ladies are looking forward to a successful card party be be held on May 7th at the Social Club. Mother’s Day Card Party is our theme, beautiful geraniums are to be table prizes.
