Branch 189 Alliance, Ohio Summer has come and gone, but we here at William Penn Branch 189 are looking forward to good things happening for the winter months! For the summer months we had an enjoyable Athletic picnic, which was held at Westville Lake. Special thanks to Athletic President, Larry Haidet and Vice President Marlin Bowers for their many hours of planning. Many thanks to the Barber brothers (Dick and Ralph) for their untiring services, especially for cooking the sausage. We here in Alliance believe the brothers cook the best sausage this side of Ohio! The coconut cream pies baked by Mable Leach were certainly enjoyed by all, especially by this reporter! An August family reunion was hosted by Dorothy Trumpeter and her Dick and Ralph Barber, William Penn A C, picnic cooks. husband, Vice President Karl Trumpeter, for Mrs. Trumpeter’s family, who had gathered for the first time as a complete group in 40 years. A delicious dinner was enjoyed at the William Penn Club the evening before the reunion. The reunion was held at Westville Lake. The eight Schwartzhoff sisters and brothers, who lived in the Alliance area for many years, were all together with the exception of one brother (Joseph) who is deceased. The 79th birthday of Adolph and the 49th wedding anniversary of Ted and Marge Schwartzhoff were all celebrated at the reunion. Guests attended from Ohio, Iowa, California and Michigan. Among the immediate families were the wives and husbands and many of their children and grandchildren. A most enjoyable week and reunion was enjoyed by all! It is with a hope the reunion of the Schwartzhoff family will be a yearly event. The William Penn bus trip to West Virginia was a huge success with 40 people having a grand time! Never knew we had so many good singers as there were on the bus! Branch 189 wishes to extend their sympathy to the Szuzsanne Magyaros and the James Sabo families at the loss of their loved one. Also to the Vice President Karl Trumpeter at the loss of his dear mother, Maggie Trumpeter. May they rest in God’s peace and love. We will be holding our A.C. dinnerdance on December 1st.
