With kindest regards, fraternally yours, Irene E. Sabo, Reporter Branch 705 Mayville, Wisconsin With the arrival of the fall season, Branch 705 has just concluded another year of summer league trapshooting at the Mayville Gun Club. Although we will have to wait until next year to claim any first place awards, it must be noted that all members of the Branch 705 team were in attendance for all of the 20 shoots throughout the summer months. At a team party, October 6th at the Iron Ridge Inn in Iron Ridge, Wisconsin, Mr. Mike Wald of Rubicon, Wisconsin accepted the trophy awarded for high average on his team. Mrs. Darlene Wagner of West Bend, Wisconsin received a trophy for being the most improved lady shooter of the entire league. As William Penn Association delegates, John and Gladys Lippert traveled to the Holidome in Stevens Point, Wisconsin to attend the Wisconsin Fraternal Congress sixteenth Mid- Year Joint meeting. It was as usual, a well attended meeting, and it is our pleasure to represent our Society. The morning session included a presentation by Mr. Paul Backes of the Arthur Anderson & Company. His discussion was entitled, “Changing Horizons In Insurance-Charting A Course For Success.” His slide presentation and explanation left no doubt in the minds of all, that a major change has been made in our industry from the consumer standpoint, and insurance providers must provide new products, and possibly new approaches to marketing. Included in the report of the legislative committee, was a discussion on action contemplated by the State of Wisconsin relative to the tax exempt status of non-profit organizations such as Blue Cross and fraternals. No positive action has been taken, but is certain to be in the near future. The afternoon session included a most interesting presentation by Mr. Robert Long of the Asset Management Group. He, a former player with the Green Bay Packers football team during their championship years, provided a great insight into the leadership qualities of Vince Lombardi. Since his retirement as an athlete, he has formed a company responsible for the Pizza Hut and Rocky Rococo franchises, in addition to numerous real estate holdings statewide. The 60th annual meeting of the Wisconsin Fraternal Congress is to be held in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin on April 27, 1985. We hope to be in attendance. Sisters and employees preparing food. Residents enjoying picnic fare.
