I understand that bowling is underway and all the teams are filled. Branch 18 held its annual family pic­nic outing at the Erie Metro Park. Everyone had a very enjoyable day. Newly elected Director Steve Ivancso from Toledo and his wife Mary also at­tended our family picnic. Congratula­tions Steve for your return to the Board. Our soccer team plays every Sunday at 5:00 P.M. They assemble at our Social Club and the group leaves from there and also join for dinner at the Social Club after the games. It’s great to see these young Hungarians par­ticipating at our social events. The Branch and Social Club held a very successful Card Party on September 26th. We had a very nice turnout, with many nice prizes, dessert and refreshments which were excellent. Many thanks to all who attended and to all that donated for this great event. What better place to be than with your friends at our Social Club. October 15th Grape Harvest Festival —L. to R. Our Annual Grape Harvest Ball was enjoyed by a capacity crowd. Joe Balint and his orchestra kept everyone’s spirits in a happy mood. The Wm. Penn Dancers performed in excellent form. They are really a grand dance group. The food, as always was very tasty and abundant. Steve Szatmári takes pride in his cooking and we take enjoyment from eating his delicious foods. We are also making plans for our Halloween Masquerade Party on Oc­tober 29th. We always have a fun filled evening, so why don’t you and your friends plan on attending. We will be serving the famous “Wooden Platter” dinner, which we all know is one meal we do not want to miss. Later that eve­ning, we will have a “Gong Show”. Put your talent to work, and plan on attend­ing this wonderful night. On October 20th, a Duck Dinner was held at our Social Club. Branch 18 will have their Annual Children’s Christmas Party at their Social Club on December 3, 1983 at 12:00 noon. We will serve food, refreshments, and of course “Santa” will be there to give his presents to all our good little boys and girls. Remember, New Year’s Eve will soon be here, so plan on this gala event, where you can be with your family and friends. Reservations must be made in advance. President Stephen Danko and wife Julia and his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Soloy, spent one month in Hungary this summer. They celebrated President Danko’s Uncle (Feri Bátya-Nadassi Ferenc) 100th birthday. Steve had a big birthday party for his uncle with all the relatives pres­ent (73 in all) at the Culture Club in Vasarosnomeny, Szabolcs Megye. We encourage the ® $ Branches to involve the ® ® families. fij relatives in Nyírkárász and other villages so they could attend the celebration. Julia and her sister-in-law, Mary Soloy, also celebrated their birthdays at one of the hotel’s dining rooms with relatives and friends in Budapest. They also visited Dr. Puskás Julianna and her husband Dr. Pajor Rezső. Dr. Puskás just completed her book “Kivándorló Magyarok az Egyesült Államokban 1880-1940 (Hungarian Im­migrants to the United States from 1880-1940). If you read Hungarian, it is an excellent book for you to read. Julia and Steve also visited her relatives in Somlószőllős, Veszprém and Nagyvárad, Romania. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stelkovics and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kertesz and daughter were also in Hungary with Julia and Steve and joined them on several occasions. President Stephen Danko retired as Board Member after 24 years of service as National Director and will serve on the Advisory Board in the future. Stephen G. Danko, son of Julia and Steve Danko, was elected as a member of the Board. Congratulations Steve!!! That is about all the news for now, so until the next issue, I remain.
