VOLUME 18 WINTER 1983 NUMBER 1 OFFICIAL NOTICE . . . 40th National Bowling Tournament The William Penn Association Na­tional Officers, members of the Board of Directors and Detroit's Branch 18 Committee invite you, your family and friends to the 40th National Bowling Tournament and Scholarship Days to be held in Detroit, Michigan on Memorial Day weekend of May 27, 28 and 29, 1 983. Please make every effort during your stay in Detroit to visit places of interest, specifically Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum. The headquarters will be the fabulous Hyatt Regency, Fairlane Town Center, Dearborn, Michigan 481 26. Telephone: (313) 593-1234. Room rates, double or single $42.00. The bowling will be at the Thunderbowl Lanes at 4200 Allen Road, Allen Park, Michigan, commencing on Saturday morning for team events and continuing Sun­day with doubles and singles. Bus transportation will be provided for the ten minute ride from the hotel to the bowling lanes. The William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation Meeting will be Friday, May 27, 1 983 at 6:30 P.M. On Friday, May 27th, Branch 18's Social Home will welcome you with a fine menu of Hungarian foods and fine gypsy music. Prices are reasonable. Free bus transportation will be provided from 5:00 P.M. to 1 1:30 P.M. between the hotel and the Branch's Social Home on 1410 Southfield Road, Lincoln Park, Michigan. Telephone: (313) 381-9881. Bowling will commence on Satur­day, May 28, 1983 at 10:00 A.M. at the Thunderbowl Lanes, just 8 In preparation for the General Con­vention which is to convene Mon­day, September 12, 1983, the Board of Directors to assure the maximum representation of delegates at the General Conven­tion, publishes herewith, the text of sections of the William Penn Association By-Laws: CHAPTER II Delegates to the General Convention-Section 1 (Pages 8-9) 1. The Board of Directors, by a majority vote of the entire Board, shall divide the membership of the Association into Delegate Districts, taking into consideration the number of adult benefit certificates in force and any other factors that the Board of Directors may consider material. 2. A Branch, having no less than 500 adult benefit certificates in force shall comprise a Delegate District. 3. Branches having less than 500 adult benefit certificates in force, shall be grouped to form an Area Delegate District or the Board may assign such Branch or Branches to a minutes from the hotel. Bus service will be provided both Saturday and Sunday between the bowling lanes and the Hyatt Regency. (Schedule to follow). The Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Michigan has been selected as the main headquarters. The Grand Ballroom has been reserved for the banquet on Saturday evening. May 28, 1983. Entertainment and music for dancing will be provided. We urge early reservations for the ban­quet as seating will be limited. We look forward to seeing you at the bowling lanes and the dinner­­dance and hope you will enjoy your stay in Detroit, Michigan. Delegate District for representation purposes. 4. Each Delegate District shall be entitled to delegates based on the number of adult benefit certificates in force as of the certification date, which shall be December 31 of the year preceding the General Conven­tion. As of the certification date, the Board of Directors shall allot the number of delegates to each Delegate District as follows: Each Delegate District shall be en­titled to elect one delegate for each 500 adult benefit certificate in force in the Delegate District. In addition to the elected delegate, each Delegate District shall elect an alter­nate for each delegate to act as delegate should one or more of the elected delegates die or resign before or during the regular meeting of the General Convention, or be declared by the Board of Directors not to be a delegate in good stand­ing. On this day, we pay our respects to the founding fathers, thirteen coal miners, who created our Hungarian Association. The William Penn will con­tinue to maintain and foster its Magyar culture and heritage in the United States of America. Make sure you and yours are part of our membership as we look forward in celebrating our 1 00th Anniversary.
