Kertesz, Dayton, The most important question to ask yourself is whether you want to continue to depend only on the government and its ill-conceived Social Security system to fund your retirement—or whether you would rather do it yourself. Some impor­tant reminders: 1. Effective 1982, you could con­tribute up to $2000 each year. 2. If your spouse doesn't work and thus isn't eligible for an IRA on his or her own, you can contribute up to $2,250 start­ing in 1982, and split it however you choose as long as no more than $2000 is con­tributed into either account. Following the fine dinner, during which Rabb Jóska provided ex­cellent music and entertainment, there was a short speaking program. Toastmaster Lesco first called upon Mr. Louis L. Varga, who briefly outlined the merger negotiations and the culmination of same. He recalled that his father, Steve Varga, had served as President of the St. László Society in Bridgeport, Conn., which later merged with the Cleveland St. István Society to form the A.H.C.S. in 1942. He pointed out that there was a need for a large Hungarian Fraternal Society today much the ductible and your interest earnings accumulate tax free. 4. You can withdraw principle on earnings anytime after you reach age 59/4 without pen­alty from your IRA even if you are still employed. With­drawals will be taxed as or­dinary income. If you become permanently disabled, how­ever, you can withdraw the fund early without penalty. 5. Should your death occur prior to retirement, the present value of the annuity fund will be paid to your beneficiary. William Penn has the plan, the Federal Government provides the in­centive and you will have the need for more money at retirement time. Mr. Stephen Zelle then spoke on the history of St. László Egylet and A.H.C.S.; he and his fellow officers and Directors are happy and pleased to continue these Hungarian Frater­nal activities through the William Penn. He offers several historic documents for the William Penn Archives. Father Nicholas Dengl speaks of the dream of Msgr. Boehm, whose dream it was to have a Hungarian Catholic Church, Fraternal Society and a Hungarian Newspaper, all three we have and he expresses the fervent hope that William Penn will continue to support this need and bring all Hungarians together. The principle speaker was Mr. Elmer Charles who detailed the need for one large Hungarian Fraternal Society in order for the Hungarians in America to have a strong voice in the U.S.A. He assures Father Dengl that the William Penn will most cer­tainly support the Hungarian Churches, regardless of denomina­tion, will support the Hungarian Press and those of Hungarian de­scent with adequate needs for youth programs, care for the elderly and activities and financial programs for all its members, young, middle aged and elderly. He closed by saying we do not want to have to say what the prophet Jeremiah said: “The elderly have disappeared from the City Gates and youth has stopped sing­ing.” The program was closed with benediction by Rev.
