The William Penn Athletic Club had election of Officers for 1982. The Of­ficers are: President, Marlin Powers; Vice President, Jerome Hamby; Secretary-Treasurer, Zoltán Cibulas; and Trustees, Dean Allman, Robert Hoiles, Gary Mason and Chairman of Trustees, James Reeder. Vice President Karl Trumpter, in the absence of President Michael Duruttya, who was recuperating from surgery, was in charge of the election of Officers of Branch 189. All Officers were unanimously re-elected. There were 46 members present. The Officers are: President, Michael Duruttya; Vice President, Karl Trumpter; Secretary, John A. Barany; Treasurer, Zoltán Cibulas; and Trustees, Wilbur Taylor and John F. Barany. Branch 159 Christmas Party. Branch 1 59 Phoenixville, Pa. Branch 159 held its second Annual Christmas Party on December 10th in the Social Room of Parkside United Church of Christ in Phoenixville. William Kovach, Branch Manager, welcomed all the children and parents in behalf of our wonderful William Penn Association. The program consisted of games for the children, Christmas caroling by everyone and entertainment by “Eric the Magician”. Santa Claus portrayed by Jack Serdy presented gifts to all the children and a box of candy to the mothers. Refreshments were served by Caroline Kovach and Jerrie Serdy. Fraternally yours, William J. Kovach Branch Manager 159 Prior to the election of Officers, Vice President Karl Trumpter asked for a moment of silent prayer in honor of the deceased members of Branch 189. Branch Manager Cibulas gave his thanks to the President and Board of Directors of Branch 189 for all the good work and improvements that was accomplished during the year. He also thanked Managers Pug and Pen Duruttya for all the cooperation and good work they are doing in managing the William Penn Club. Secretary John Barany thanked this reporter for the write-ups in the Penn Life Magazine. The Penn Life Magazine is put up on the bulletin board and many people who do not receive the magazine enjoy reading what is happening at the Home Office and in different Branches throughout the United States. Not only did Branch 189 have a Children’s Christmas Party, but the day before the party a Christmas breakfast was served! Santa, (played by Jerry Summers) and Mrs. Claus (Pen Duruttya, who also cooked the breakfast) and her helper (Sherri Thomas) served the children their breakfast and listened to their excite­ment because Santa was there at their table talking to them! The following day at the Children’s Christmas Party, Vice President Karl Trumpter welcomed all the children in behalf of Branch 189. He then in turn turned the party over to Mgr. Pug Duruttya, who talked to the children and told them Santa was on his way. Soon he said the children will hear Santa’s sleigh and reindeer on the roof. The children’s eyes, suddenly, were all looking up at the ceiling hoping they could hear them!!! “Believe it or not, Branch 1 89 Alliance, Ohio Refreshments were served after the meeting by Pen Duruttya at a beautifully decorated table carrying out the Christmas theme. Saturday Christmas Breakfast —Santa (Gerold Summers) and Santa's helper (Sherri Thomas) helping children at their Christmas Breakfast. The nominating committee were: Jerry Taylor, Ann Barany and Dorothy Trumpter. The swearing in of the Officers was conducted by Miss Kathy Cibulas, daughter of Branch Manager and Mrs. Zoltán Cibulas. Celebrating Br. Mgr. and Mrs. Zoltán Cibulas' 25th wedding anniversary. 17
