Launching of Professional Sales and Service Agency Organizations A Milestone for William Penn Association On June 15th, seventeen fine looking people launched their fulltime professional sales career with the William Penn Association in a week long training school held at the William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Each of the participants had been carefully selected and all had completed a prescribed course of study before reporting for training. Sixteen men and one lovely female completed the course. All are now fulltime associates of the William Penn. This action fulfills a long term dream of your Association. It is timely, too. In 1941, the late Alex Benz, then President of Aid Association of Lutherans, wrote in the Fraternal Monitor: "Those members of fraternal life insurance organizations who cancel their certificates of membership would never wish to do so if they were cognizant of the many valuable benefits to be gained from their membership in a society. In the majority of instances when a member wishes to withdraw from a society, the fault can be traced to the fact that the member has simply forgotten the real purpose of his or her insurance contract, or the particular field representative who contacted him or her failed to properly explain the enormous benefits offered by the society. The mechanic of insurance must be known by the representatives, but they must also be able to prescribe the right plan of insurance to satisfy the individual needs of their prospects. The emphasis must be placed on the future benefits the member will receive, and not upon the contract itself and cold figures. Unless members can visualize the values of their insurance, little incentive is advanced for keeping it in force. The ultimate success in keeping members in a society rests upon the individual representative, and it is obvious that these men (and women) must be carefully selected and trained if they are to properly serve their clients. It is obvious, too, that men (and women) who devote their full time and energy to this profession, which is second only to that of preaching the Gospel, are better able to sell and service insurance in a manner that will assure keeping it in force." William Penn heartily concurs. When everything else is the same, insurance with a fraternal society such as ours makes the difference.
