must be given to our young, enthusiastic, and wonderful Barbara Botkin, our Branch Manager, who gave so untiringly of her time and of herself in planning the various aspects of the party and putting them into operation, purchasing the various games, ordering the wonderful food and delivering it all to the hall, and then directing the children in their games. To Barbara—par excellence— we could not have done it without you! Again, thanks a million for a job well done. Also, our heartfelt thanks to our hard working Vice President, John Sabo, who, with Barbara, really got the party off to a good start; to our wonderful members who came and helped, and to our faithful Committee, the Branch Officers. We can only do all this by working together and, from the favorable comments from those attending, it was well worth the effort. The Holiday Season is traditionally a time for renewed faith and a reminder of the importance of our human ties to family and friends. May we, at Branch 226, extend the Season’s greetings in a warm and friendly way for a New Year abundant with happiness and good health. Violet B. Lenart Publicity Branch 249 Dayton, Ohio Our Annual Children’s Christmas Party was held on Saturday, December 13th. This has been our best attended party in recent years, due in part to the fact that it was held during the evening hours. Also, that we made it a family night, inviting the parents and grandparents of our juvenile members. The food prepared by the ladies of our branch was excellent. Thanks are in order to Mrs. Margaret Bauer, Mrs. Regina Dúsak, Mrs. Alberta Hoffer, Mrs. Margaret Horvath, Mrs. Annie Kertesz, Anne Marie Kertesz, Mrs. Betty Mayerchak, and Mrs. Mary Motko. Thanks are in order to the men also, who contributed unselfishly to the success of the festivities. Frank Hoffer, Steve Horvath, Albert G. Kertesz, Mike Mayerchak, and John Motko. Branch 249 President John Motko and Director Albert G. Kertesz. A special event occurred during the evening when Director Albert G. Kertesz presented the 50 year lapel pin to Branch President John Motko. Mr. Motko is most deserving of this award for his many years as a loyal member and officer of the former (Bridgeporti Szövetség) American Life and also our local branch. “I have yet to find a man, whatever his station in life, who did not do better work and put forth greater effort under a spirit of approval than he would ever do under a spirit of criticism.” — Charles Schwab 18
