Toastmaster John Sabo, Mrs. Buck and National Secretary Stelkovics. Gus G. Nagy, Vice President of Memberhsip Services, presented the Illustrious Citation to Louis Siebert, stating in his remarks that Mr. Siebert, as President of Branch 226 for many years, gave inspirational leadership to a branch that has given many fine leaders to the National Organization. Mr. Nagy also thanked Mr. Siebert and his family who were all present, for keeping fraternalism alive. Without Louis Siebert, he reminded, Branch 226 could not have gained the respect of the branches in the Greater Pittsburgh area and the National Association, inasmuch as he also served many times as the branch delegate to our National Conventions. Mr. Siebert humbly accepted this high honor and promised to continue his efforts to serve the Association and thus contribute to its future growth and prosperity. Mrs. Elizabeth Buck received her Illustrious Citation from Secretary- Treasurer Albert J. Stelkovics, who addressed her in our beautiful Magyar language. He noted that Mrs. Buck first served as a member of the Rákóczi Aid Association, before becoming deeply involved in the affiairs of the Verhovay Fraternal Association and later, the William Penn Association. He congratulated her on being the Association’s oldest, active member and Branch Officer. Mr. Stelkovics asked the audience to rise for a moment of silence as a solemn tribute to her late husband, Andrew Buck, who up until his death a year ago, was very active in the affairs of Branch 226. Mrs. Buck gratefully accepted the award with appropriate remarks and asked God’s blessing on the Officers and members of the William Penn Association. National President Elmer Charles gave a stirring speech, extolling the good the William Penn Association has done for the many people who have been under William Penn’s “umbrella of protection”. He acknowledged Mr. Siebert’s leadership as Branch President and Convention Delegate and for his many years of service in contributing to and promoting fraternalism in the William Penn Association. He praised Mrs. Buck for her untiring efforts, not only in William Penn affairs, but in all affairs of Hungarian origin, in order to inspire in all of us a love of our proud and wonderful heritage. Being Hungarian and love of all things Hungarian, is the primary driving force in her life that has enabled Mrs. Buck to accomplish all that she has in her most productive life. Mr. Charles further stated that on behalf of the Pennsylvania Fraternal Congress, he appointed her the first “Communicator”—liaison representative between our Association and the Pennsylvania Fraternal Congress—this Official William Penn Family and Honorees Louis Siebert, Elizabeth Buck and National President Elmer Charles. honor due her because of her many successful accomplishments. Mr. Edward Rietski, son-in-law of Mr. Siebert and Secretary of Branch 226, and Dr. Rudolph Buck, son of Mrs. Buck, responded as respective family members and thanked the William Penn Association and Branch 226 for bestowing the Illustrious Member Awards and stated that they were very immpressed by the sincere beauty of the affair. Mrs. Buck was pleasantly surprised when State Legislator Emil Mrkonic, of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, presented her with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Commonwealth for her work on behalf of the William Penn Asssociation and involvement in community and political affairs. This meritorious service award is given only to outstanding and deserving civic and fraternal citizens in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Buck was again pleasantly surprised to receive two gorgeous bouquets of flowers presented by her sons—Theodore and Leslie—as tokens of love and respect from her entire family, thirty members of which were present at this dinner. On behalf of Branch 226, Violet B. Lenart, Treasurer, and Branch Manager Barbara B. Botkin, in their remarks, extended congratulations to Mr. Siebert and Mrs. Buck on their great honor, and wished them both continued health and happiness for many years to come. The Invocation was given by Rev. Stephen M. Kato, Pastor of St. Stephen’s R.C. Church in McKeesport, where both honorees are members. The Benediction was given in Hungarian by Rev. Pal Bolvary, Pastor of St. Ann’s Hungarian R.C. Church in Hazelwood. Our Master of Ceremonies, par excellance, was our own John Sabo, Na19
