Branch 1 5 Chicago, Illinois On December 16, 1979, the Branch held its Annual Christmas Party at Sauhammel’s Hall, 3614 North Damen Avenue. Shortly before 3:00 p.m., the hall was filled with all the children, their parents and their guests. The atmosphere was set for another fun-filled afternoon. At 3:15 p.m., the President greeted all those that had gathered for the party. The children, as well as all the others present, enjoyed all the cartoons shown by Steve Hodits. As the cartoons were coming to an end, a jing-aling and a mighty Ho-Ho-Ho was heard, and once again Santa greeted all from his trip from the North Pole. Santa then went about his happy task of distributing the gifts, candy, and punch balloons with the help of the President. Hot dogs were plentiful for all and were served by Mrs. J. Hodits and Betty Burke. Liquid refreshments were also served to young and old by Imre Janco and Steve Hodits. As Santa was about to leave, a young lady, who was just a little girl a few short years ago, whispered “Goodbye, Santa. I’ve enjoyed your company all these years”. We thank you all for coming and may we see more of you next year. Yours fraternally, Joseph C. Hodits Secretary-T reasufer Your Santa for some 30 years Branch 1 6 Perth Amboy, N.J. On December 9th we had our annual Christmas Party at St. Nicholas Greek Catholic Church Hall in Perth Amboy. Steve Mészáros, Branch Manager welcomed everyone and then introduced Mr. Michael Hrabar, Branch President and National Auditor. Mr. Hrabar extended Holiday Greetings to all on behalf of the Home Office staff. The children were then entertained by Jonjie the clown, who made animals out of balloons for all the children. But the highlight of the day was the visit by Santa Claus. Our thanks go to Mr. and Mrs. Steve Mészáros, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hrabar, Mr. and Mrs. George Mirkovich, Mr. and Mrs. Al Kregor and Miss Annette Hrabar. Without their hard work and dedication the party would not have been such a success. On December 18th at our regular monthly meeting the following were elected officers for the coming year: President, Michael Hrabar; Vice President, Steve Mészáros; Treasurer, Al Kregor; Secretary, George Mirkovich; Auditors, Mary Mészáros and Ann Hrabar; Reporter, Michaelene Mirkovich. From Branch 16 a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. Michaelene Mirkovich Reporter Branch 1 8 Detroit, Michigan Now that the holidays are over and everyone is relaxed, we are again looking forward to a successful year with all our upcoming events. Before we list a few of them, I wish to recall some events of our past year. We had some very distinguished visitors honor us with their presence; our annual New Year’s Eve party; our annual picnic; wooden platter and duck dinners; bowling banquets; anniversaries, and of course, our own William Penn Dancers great accomplishments during the past year. Needless to say, they have come a long way and proved themselves to all who saw them perform. Keep up the excellent work! We hope your dream of going to Hungary, will be fulfilled. The Children’s Annual Christmas Party was held on December 9, 1979 at the V.F.W. hall. The children had a great time with Santa and all the goodies. Jennifer Szatmári having a very serious talk with Santa. I am sure she will get everything that she is asking Santa to bring her. We wish to take this opportunity to thank the Home Office and the Ladies Auxiliary Branch 18 for their contribution to the Children’s Christmas Party. Our youngest member was Elizabeth Katona. She is sitting on Santa's lap while her father, James, proudly looks on. Our New Year’s Eve Dance was a great success. We understand many were disappointed that they did not get to attend. I guess next time we say, “Get your tickets early!”, you will be sure and get them. Our up-coming Champagne Ball will be held on February 16, 1980 at the Fandango Hall located at Eureka and 1-75. As we mentioned before, many important events take place at our Branch 18 Social Club, one of which was the 40th anniversary celebration of Ludwig and Mary Gebnar. They were pleasantly surprised on November 25th, with a reception in their honor by their four children: Mary King, Frances, John and Edward Gebnar and their spouses. A total of 56 relatives and friends attended the reception. The gala event was made most enjoyable by the delicious dinner served by Mr. and Mrs. Steve Szatmári, along with champagne and other beverages, as well as the tantalizing music of Joseph Balint and his orchestra. Mr. and Mrs. Gebnar were married on November 25, 1939 in Cass City at St. Paneratius Catholic Church. Mrs. Gebnar is the former Mary Frank of Cass City, Michigan. She is also an Auditor of the William Penn Branch 18. Some of her hobbies are bowling, (Coni in lied on Pane 12)
