It was moved, seconded and adopted by the Convention. 85) The Chairman of the Resolu­tions Committee Stephen G. Danko presented the following resolution per­taining to Penn’s Scenic View. RESOLUTION RESOLVED THAT WHEREAS, the 29th General Convention has read the Report of the Board of Directors pertaining to the Association’s acquisi­tion of approximately 159 acres in Middlecreek Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania known as Penn’s Scenic View, and WHEREAS, the Delegates were privileged on Sunday, September 9, 1979 to tour the site and observe the ex­isting facilities, and WHEREAS, the Delegates were presented by Mr. George Kemp and Mr. Emery Szalai, architect proposed plans for the full utilization of this valuable site, and WHEREAS, National President Mr. Elmer Charles outlined verbally the plans for Youth Camp, Recreational Vehicle Park, Winter Sports, Cultural Center, etc. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by this 29th General Con­vention in regular session assembled this 12th day of September, 1979, that it does hereby approve, confirm and ratify the action heretofore taken by the National Officers, Executive Com­mittee and Board of Directors involv­ing Penn’s Scenic View program, in­cluding expenditures and costs in­curred to date. RESOLVED further that the Board of Directors is hereby directed and authorized to continue development of Penn’s Scenic View to its fullest poten­tial as a fraternal activities center and to expend the necessary funds for this development. It was moved, seconded and authorized by the delegates. 86) Delegate Stephen G. Danko presented the following resolution per­taining to fraternal communications program promoted by the National Fraternal Congress. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the National Fraternal Congress is promoting a program to protect and better serve the needs of the fraternal benefit system and has established a Fraternal Communica­tions Program, and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Convention to support such a pro­gram, NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the National Officers and Direc­tors should adopt the National pro­gram when it has been fully developed by the National Fraternal Congress of America and then institute the pro­gram throughout our branches. ADOPTED this eleventh day of September, 1979. It was moved, seconded and adopted by the Convention. 87) Chairman Danko thanked his Resolutions Committee for the diligent manner in which they performed their duties and their sincere cooperation. 88) President Charles also thanked Stephen G. Danko and his Resolutions Committee for their fine performance and discharged the Committee with sincere thanks and appreciation. 89) Chairman Charles asked the Convention delegates if there were any remarks under unfinished business. There were no remarks offered. 90) Mr. Charles next requested remarks under new business. There were no remarks offered. 91) Mr. Charles opened discussion under Good of the Order. Mr. and Mrs. William C. Kohut pledged $5,000.00 to the William Penn Scholarship Foundation. He stated the scholarship program is a very special project, near to his heart. It helps the needy youth obtain schooling and the youth really appreciate this help from the letters we have been receiving. He is very proud and pleased to be able to make this donation. Mr. Louis L. Varga and Mrs. Louis L. Varga pledged $2,500.00 to the Scholarship Foundation for 1979 and $2,500.00 for 1980. The delegates accepted these most generous gifts with a standing ovation to Mr. and Mrs. Louis L. Varga and Mr. and Mrs. William C. Kohut. Also pledged by Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Charles, $250.00; Mr. and Mrs. Julius E. Somogyi, $100.00; Charles Fabian, $100.00; Branch 40, Martins Ferry, Ohio, $100.00; Mr. and Mrs. Gay B. Banes, $50.00. 92) Delegate Frank J. Wukovits, Sr. moved and it was seconded and authorized by the delegates that the National President and Chairman of the Convention Elmer Charles, Vice Presidents John P. Balia and Louis L. Varga, Secretary of the Convention Frank J. Radvany, National Secretary- Treasurer Albert J. Stelkovics and Parliamentarian and General Counsel Gay B. Banes each receive an honorarium of $500.00 for the work they performed at this convention. It was further authorized that certain home office employees also receive an honorarium for the duties they per­formed at this Convention. 93) Mr. Charles stated that the next order of business was the installation of the newly elected Officers, Directors and Auditing Committee.
