Our Children’s Christmas Party was once again a huge success, with Santa (Frank Hoffer) being the main attrac­tion of the day. Prior to his arrival the Joy Felföldi Reboulet Dance Studio presented a most enjoyable program. After the distribution of gifts there were refreshments and snacks for everyone. Kertesz Branch 278 Omaha, Nebraska The Home Office is pleased to an­nounce that Mrs. Elizabeth Papp, Manager of Branch 278 Omaha, Nebraska has sent the Hungarian Flag of the Branch to the Home Office to be placed into the William Penn museum when the Home Office will be located in its own quarters. Little is known about the history of this beautiful flag other than it was ordered from Hungary and paid for by the Branch in 1939, it was received November 12, 1939 and dedicated May 12, 1940. This is an important contribution to our museum, and we thank Branch 278 members for their generosity. Branch 296 Springdale, Pa. Our Children’s Christmas Party was held Saturday, December 16, 1978 in the United Church of Christ Hall. More than 50 children were present and many parents and grandparents making it one of the nicest such gather­ings in many a year. The members were entertained by young dancers from the Atkinson School of Dancing, New Kensington, Pa. These talented young ladies per­formed magnificently in the spirit of Christmas and drew many rounds of applause. Dancers were: Jennifer Atkinson, Melinda Kutchenreiter, San­dy O’Mara, Lisa Anthony, Carrie Bor­­dinaro, Jennifer Nader, Cara Ann Blake, Robin Artkowsky and Cindy Meekins. Our thanks for a wonderful performance. Children were treated to pop, pretzels and other goodies. Many carols were sung lead by Mr. Stephen Szilagyi, Vice President Marketing. Our thanks to Mr. Jay Blizman, Chair­man of the Entertainment Committee for being Santa’s helper. Santa gave each child a box of chocolates and a silver dollar. Our thanks to the follow­ing who helped: Mr. and Mrs. John P. Balia, Mr. and Mrs. Gus G. Nagy, Mr. and Mrs. James Beganyi, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stelkovics, George Charles, Sr., Elmer Charles and Julius Telegdy. The following officers were elected at the December meeting to serve in 1979. John P. Balia, President; Julius Telegdy, Vice President; Albert J. Stelkovics, Secretary; Gus G. Nagy, Treasurer; Jay Blizman, Entertainment Chairman; Sue Mate, Social Chairper­son; Members of the Auditing Com­mittee: Jay Blizman, Mary Weseloski and Jennie Wislie. Officers were in­stalled by Mr. Elmer Charles. Meetings are held third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 P.M. in United Church of Christ William Penn Room, 130 Walters Lane, Springdale, Pa. The Branch members voted to hold a Hungarian Picnic, Sunday, July 29, 1979 at Assumption Church Picnic Grounds, Leechburg, Pa. Many of our members had the honor and privilege of attending the 50th Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph S. Hegedűs with a dinner and reception at the Springdale Veterans Association. The goldenwed’s son, Joseph R. of O’Hara Township, and their daughter, Mrs. Edmund F. (Dorothy) Boyle of Springdale, served as hosts. The former Miss Helen R. Gólya, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Gólya of Harwick, and Joseph S. Hegedűs, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Hegedűs of Springdale, were married October 13, 1928, in St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Springdale. Before retiring October 3, 1968, Mr. Hegedűs was employed for 42 years by Duquesne Light Co., Springdale. A member of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, William Penn Frater­nal Association, both of Springdale and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 53, New Kensington, Mr. Hegedűs enjoys gardening, flowering, crossword puzzles and television.
