THE WILLIAM PENN FRATERNAL ASSOCIATION • PITTSBURGH PA. 15219 • PHONE (412) 281-8950 VOLUME 13 WINTER 1978 NUMBER 1 35th National Bowling Tournament & Scholarship Days May 26-28, 1978 Once again we are going back to Detroit area for our 1978 Bowling Tournament, a City where we have had fine hosts and where all the Bowlers and their friends have had a good time. We certainly look forward to a real good time this year too. The Headquarters Hotel will be the Hyatt Regency, Dearborn which is close to Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum, thus those who participate in the Tournament will have an opportunity to do some sightseeing on this visit to Detroit. The Thunderbowl Lanes, 4200 Allen Road, Allen Park, Michigan have 3rd Annual Trip To Hungary After two successful trips to Hungary, the Board of Directors has again authorized a Trip to Hungary. Acquiescing to many requests, the Trip is to leave earlier in the year, during the height of the regular travel season, which increases the airflight cost, however many members requested the earlier date. Accordingly our charter flight will leave Greater Pittsburgh International Airport, Tuesday, August 1, 1978 and arrive in Budapest Wednesday, August 2, 1978. Return Tuesday, August 22, 1978. Charter arrangements have again been made with Pan-American Airways. The air fare from Pittsburgh to Budapest and return is $515.00 per person. There are 182 seats available, these seats will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Those desiring to participate in this Third Annual Trip To Hungary should fill in the application found elsewhere in this issue and mail to the Home Office with your deposit of $150.00. Check or money order should be made again been contracted tor the actual bowling Tournament. The Host Branch will be Branch 18. Director Stephen Danko, who is also President of Branch 18, is making preparations to assure everyone a fine welcome. Tournament Co-Administrators National Vice President John P. Balia and Vice President Gus G. Nagy are again in charge of the Tournament. The Co-Administrators inform me that entry forms, rules and regulations, room reservation information, banquet, dance, etc. information is being prepared and will be mailed out to all Branches and Team Captains within the next few weeks. The Banquet will be held Saturday, May 27, 1978. Dance will follow. Music will be furnished by Frank Borisz and his orchestra from Cleveland, Ohio. They will play dinner music from 6-8:30 and dance music from 9-1. The Borisz orchestra is very popular in the mid-west and we are anticipating that he will really put on a performance which only he can do. William Penn Association Scholarship Foundation annual meeting will be held, Friday evening in the Hyatt Regency at 7:00 P.M. Meeting Room will be posted on the Hotel Bulletin Board. Bowling will be Saturday morning for team events and Sunday May 28, 1978 will be the Singles and Doubles. Indications are that there will be a large representation of Bowling Teams from the various Branches, we urge those Branches which some years ago sent teams to again send a contingent to Detroit. All Branches are requested to get their entry forms back to the Home Office as soon as possible thereby making the scheduling easier. Looking forward to seeing many of the Bowlers in Detroit.
