44 AKRON, OHIO “HUNGARIAN SCHOOL IN AKRON” All Hungarians in the Akron area are cordially invited to attend and participate in the activities of the Mindszenty Hungarian School. Under the leadership of the Sisters of Social Order, the school was founded three years ago, at the request of Cardinal Mindszenty. The objectives of the school are to provide instruction in the Hungarian language, culture, history and traditions. Since its beginning many exciting events have taken place. The classes in the Hungarian language have grown to seven in number. To offer well rounded programs, folk singing, stories and dancing are included along with the annual Christmas play, Easter party and recognition ceremonies at year’s end. The monthly Hungarian movie was attended by the Vice President of Marketing, Stephen T. Szilagyi, who was greatly impressed. To quote Mr. Szilagyi, “My Hungarian heart was beating a little faster in the knowledge that Hungarian life, Hungarian tradition and love for one's origin was being carried out through the efforts of some very dedicated Hungarians.” Our own Special Agent, Margaret Asboth, was in charge of the afternoon’s activities. To the officers and members of the group we express our deepest gratitude and extend our congratulations on a job well done. We urge all members of William Penn Association to support the Mindszenty Hungarian School. For further details you may contact them at P.O. Box 525, Akron, Ohio 44309. 76 PHILADELPHIA, PA. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Carmen Mudry on the marriage of their daughter, Helene, to William V. Farrell. We hope he is now on his way to full recovery and lasting good health. To the newlyweds, we extend our good wishes and lasting happiness. A distinguished member of Branch 85 was honored at a Testimonial Dinner at the Twin Coaches Inn, Saturday, April 2, 1977. Mr. Alexander DEBRECZENI was the recipient of the testimonial by more than 600 of his friends. The occasion served a two-fold purpose; first Mr. Debreczeni has completed 29 years of dedicated and faithful service to Washington County, he was first elected as Purchasing Agent for the County, then served in the Treasurer’s Office. For 10 years he did yeoman duty in the Domestic Relations Office. Chief Clerk to the County Commissioners, Chief Deputy Sheriff and in 1969 was elected Sheriff of Washington County and re-elected in 1973. He now begins a new statewide career, having been appointed Chief Investigator of the Auditor’s General Office, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This is a highly responsible position and we, of William Penn Association wish him well in his new field of endeavor. We are proud of the fact that Mr. Debreczeni also follows in the footsteps of his father, who for many years was an Officer of Branch 85, Daisytown, Pa. Alex is a good member of Branch 85 and even though he will be away from his home more often in the future, he still intends to continue to be an active member of the Branch.
