On February 26, 1977 the William Penn Social Club of Branch 18 celebrated its First Anniversary, which was a tremendous success. The Club was filled to capacity. Branch 18 wants to thank Mr. Albert Stelkovics, National Secretary, and his lovely wife Mary for attending this affair and also for the few works Mr. Stelkovics spoke to the members regarding fraternalism. We also wish to thank all who assisted in making it a success. The Ladies Auxiliary members are working hard to make their annual Card Party a success. This affair will be held at the V.F.W. Hall, corner of Montie Road and Fort Street, Lincoln Park, Michigan, on Wednesday evening May 11, 1977 at 7:00 p.m. The tickets are $2.00 per person and are available from all auxiliary officers and members. Be sure to attend and have a real good time as there will be plenty of prizes, pastry and coffee. Wishing Mrs. Emma Kato and Mrs. Elizabeth Sampson a speedy recovery. You are missed at our Ladies Auxiliary functions. Bowling will soon be drawing to a close with only one Sunday left and teams still fighting for first place. May the best team win. The William Penn Mixed League will hold its bowling banquet at the William Penn Social Club on May 14, 1977. Our National Bowling Tournament will be held in Washington, D.C. this year, but where are all of our bowlers. Also, remember you don’t have to be a bowler to attend the Bowling Tournament and Banquet in Washington May 27 and 28, 1977. Come cheer the Detroit teams and wish our bowlers “Good Luck” and hope they again come back with some prizes. The William Penn Branch 18 Social Club is already busy organizing its bowling league for 1978 to compete with the William Penn Mixed League already in existence. If you are interested, call 381- 9881 and register. Former all-star bowler Steve Vargo is chairman of organizing this league. Also, plans are being formulated for our Junior Club again for our youngsters with Hungarian dancing to be taught and also organizing an orchestra for youngsters with musical talent which will be instructed by Mr. Joe Balint. For further details call Mrs. Julia Danko at 287-8035. It is with great sorrow that I report the death of a very dear friend, member and officer, MR. STEVE NEW. He will be missed by all and our deepest sympathy to his wife Margaret and may his soul rest in peace. As of yet we are without an agent at our Detroit office. This is an excellent opportunity for a young ambitious man interested in the insurance field. If interested, write to Mr. Steve Szilagyi at the Home Office, 429 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pa. He will gladly fill you in on all the details and train you for a prosperous future. We are publishing two group pictures taken at the recent Branch Anniversary Banquet when we honored the 50 Year Members. (Ed.) Julia Danko, Reporter Pictures on next page.
