healthy, happy New Year to everyone in the William Penn Association. Ann Hrabar, Reporter 18 DETROIT, MICH. So much has happened it is hard to know where to start. I’ll start with news about the Club. The Social Club is now almost complete except for the liquor license which we hope to get in the very near future. We had a two day open house in November which was a huge success. Since that time the Ladies Auxiliary held their Annual Christmas Dinner there. The next item of interest is the New Year’s Eve party which will be held there. We are expecting approximately 120 persons ( on a first come first serve basis) and reservations are filling up very rapidly. The Club will be open on a daily basis ( Tuesday through Sunday ) as soon as the liquor license is secured. We are urging all William Penn members to sign up in the Club and also bring your friends along as social members -- it soon will be a real swinging place! The branch officers would also like to hear from the younger age group (15 to 25) — if enough interest is shown you can have your own night at the club as well as participating in other sporting and social events. The Children’s Annual Christmas Party was held on Sunday, November 30 with approximately over a hundred children putting in an appearance. After a short program, Santa Clairs appeared and talked with every child. The children were then given their gifts ( footballs for the boys and a stuffed animal for the girls) as well as treated to pop, potato chips, and carol books. The parents accompanying the children were treated to coffee and pastry. I would like to thank the Branch officers, Ladies Auxiliary members and members who helped to make this party a success. Also, thanks to the three young men from the Hungária Dancers group who performed the Hungarian dances so expertly. At the Annual Meeting of Branch 18 held on Sunday, December 14th, the following officers were elected to serve in 1976: Stephen Danko re-elected as President; Frank Csiszár re-elected as Vice President and Geza Madarasz as the other newly elected Vice President; Elvira Kubovics re-elected as Secretary; Georgette Silagy was the newly elected Treasurer; Mary Molnár the newly elected Controller and James Lochinger re-elected as Auditor; Frank Kato also re-elected, and the three new Auditors are László Kubovics, John Silagy, and Paul Korodi. ALL BRANCH MEMBERS PLEASE NOTE: BEGINNING IN JANUARY, 1976, THE BRANCH MEETINGS WILL BE HELD ON THE FIRST MONDAY EVENING OF EACH MONTH AT THE CLUB HALL, 1410 SOUTHFIELD ROAD, LINCOLN PARK, AT 7:30 P.M. Plans are being organized for the ANNUAL CHAMPAGNE DANCE to be held on Saturday evening, February 14th, 1976, at the HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH HALL on ALLEN ROAD. The catering for this affair will be done by Mary Gyorke —I need say no more about the food, it will be perfect. Frank Borisz and his Continental Orchestra will furnish the music -- that, too, will be perfect. The admission is $12.50 per person and as we will be able to serve only 350 persons, get your reservations in early: call either Julia Danko (287-8035) or Elvira Kubovics (581- 2356) for tickets. A bottle of Champagne for every five persons! Come one, come all, and have a good time! The Ladies Auxiliary held their Annual meeting in December and all officers were re-elected: Elvira Kubovics, President; Grace Csiszár, Vice-President; Ann Leny, Secretary; Julia Danko, Treasurer; and Martha Balosé and Mary Demcsak as Auditors. The Ladies have also changed their meeting days -BEGINNING IN JANUARY 1976, THE AUXILIARY WILL HOLD THEIR MEETINGS ON THE THIRD MONDAY EVENING OF EACH MONTH AT THE CLUB HALL AT 7:30 P.M. Plans are being formulated for their annual card party to be held in May - more about this in the next issue. Fifty Auxiliary members and guests had a wonderful time at the ROOSTERTAIL club in October for their Outing. There was just enough for one busload, but by the time we returned we had even the bus driver singing Hungarian songs. The Ladies Auxiliary Christmas Dinner was held at the Club on Sunday, December 7th. Mrs. Gyorke did the catering and we had more that 120 persons (members and guests) at this affair. Everyone had a wonderful time just renewing old acquaintances and listening to the music — both tapes and the gypsies. At this writing the team that is in first place in the William Penn Mixed League is Falcon Upholstering. The team consists of Julia and Louis Csordás and Kathy and Gabor Takacs. They still bowl on every other Sunday afternoon at the Thunderbowl Lanes and everyone has a real good time. The Ladies Auxiliary cookbooks are still for sale. You can order from either Mrs. Julia Danko, 17275 Cedarlawn, Southgate 48195 or from Mrs. Elvira Kubovics, 7039 Kingsley, Dearborn, Michigan 48126 for the sum of $2.50 each. This price includes postage and handling. Mrs. Suszanna Nelinger is recuperating from her surgery at home on Lyon Street, Mrs. Rose Molnár ( Steve Danko’s mother) is in the hospital recovering from surgery, Mary Tirpak’s daughter is recovering from her automobile accident — the illnesses are getting too numerous to mention. May I take this opportunity to wish all William Penn members a Very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous Happy and Healthy New Year! Elvira Kubovics 19 NEW BRUNSWICK,N.J. The Annual Children’s Christmas Party was held on Sunday, December 7th, 1975 at the Bayard Street Presbyterian Church Hall with over 200 in attendance. It was one of the best we ever had. The program began with Branch President Joseph Arvay welcoming everyone after which he introduced all of the Officers and National Director Michael Hegedűs. Director Michael Hegedűs also greeted everyone and wished them a pleasant afternoon. We then had a Clown who entertained for almost an hour which the youngsters enjoyed very much and we also noted many of the adults enjoying too. After the entertainment Christmas Carols were sung from the Carol Books received from the Home Office with accompaniment by Ruth Vasvary on the piano. Then came Santa Claus in the person of Ed Miller who distributed candy and the helpers gave gifts. There were refreshments served too. The election of Officers for 1976 was held on December 8, 1975. The following were elected for the coming year. Joseph Arvay .............................President Elizabeth Gyorgydeak .. ..
