William Penn Association 90th Anniversary Delegates Approve St. George Catholic Union Merger with William Penn Association After two years of negotiations be­tween the Officers and Directors of William Penn Association and St. George Catholic Union of Perth Amboy, New Jersey a proposed merger agreement was prepared. In accordance with the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Fraternal Laws this merger agreement had to be voted upon by the delegates to the con­ventions of the respective Societies. We are pleased to report that dele­gates of both Societies voted to accept the merger agreement and merge the two Societies. Merger will become final when the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Insurance Departments approve the merger agreement. Once again a small, well managed society with Magyar roots has decided to join the largest Hungarian Fraternal Benefit Society in the world. Mr. Andrew Fohl, Supreme President of St. George Catholic Union in his address to the William Penn Board last month summed up the reason for merger very succintly when he said: “St. George Catholic (Continued on Page Two) The WILLIAM PENN ASSOCIATION, founded in Hazleton, Pa., February 21, 1886 observed its 90th Anniversary on Saturday, May 29, 1976 in the Grand Ballroom and Urban Room of the Wil­liam Penn Hotel, Pittsburgh, Pa. This particular date to celebrate the occasion was selected by the Board of Directors and Officers because of the many bowl­ers who would be present from the several branches throughout the country who were participating in the 33rd National Bowling Tournament sponsored by the Association. The 1976 Memorial Day week-end was truly a beehive of fraternal activity including the annual meeting of the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation Inc. Seven hundred guests were seated at the beautifully set tables of the banquet room. The headtable was occupied by Mr. Zoltán Gombos, Editor-Publisher Amerikai-Magyar Népszava and Szabad­ság, Mrs. Gombos; Mr. Rezső Mikola, 1st Secretary of the Hungarian Em­bassy; Mr. Julius Macker, Past National President of the Willian Penn Associa­tion, Mrs. Macker; Rev. Imre Kovács, Pastor of United Church of Christ, Springdale, Pa.; Mrs. Kovács; Mr. Elmer Charles, National President; Mr. Albert J. Stelkovics, National Secretary and Mrs. Stelkovics; Mr. Albert Kocsis, Su­preme President of the former Rákóczi Aid Association, Mrs. Kocsis; Mr. Andrew Fohl, President of St. George Catholic Union, Mrs. Fohl; Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy, Superintendent Bethlen Home, Ligonier, Pa. and Eugene Szebe­­dinszky, Editor-Publisher, Magyarság, Pittsburgh, Pa. The evening’s program was opened with welcoming remarks by Toastmaster Stelkovics. He then called upon Miss Julia R.
