The National Board of Directors of the William Penn Association recently adopted a Resolution citing Rev. Dr. Stephen BESSEMER on the occasion of the 50th L. to r. Louis L. Varga, Vice President, Albert J. Stelkovics, National Secretary, Frank Bern, Director, Rev. Dr. Stephen Bessemer. anniversary of his ordination as minister of the United Church of Christ, Calvin Synod. An appropriate framed citation was presented to Dr. Bessemer Thursday, October 16, 1975 in the Algonquin Club, Bridgeport, Conn. The occasion was observed with a private gathering. Director Frank Bero was Toastmaster for the evening. Principal address was by Vice President Louis L. Varga. Citation was presented by National Secretary Albert J. Stelkovics. Greetings were extended by Vice Presidents of Branch #1 Stephen J. Varga and Edward J. Behuncik. Mr. Albert V. Kocsis, Treasurer of Branch #1, presented a check to the Honoreeon behalf of the Branch Membership. Dr. Bessemer responded to the greetings and reminisced about his 50 years of ministry in the same congregation and of his service to the Hungarian Community. Governor Ella T. Grasso, State of Connecticut, met recently with Officers of Branch #1 to discuss the Association’s participation in the Bicentennial program. Shown with the Governor are John J. McCarthy, Treasurer Branch #1, Frank Bero, President of Branch # 1 and National Director Louis L. Varga, National Vice President. Connecticut played a major role in the development of the United States of America and Branch 1 members are pleased to be an integral part of the Nation’s 200th birthday program. Patricia Bero, daughter of Director and Mrs. Frank Bero is a registered musical therapist and is a doctoral student at Combs College of Music in Philadelphia, Pa. Patty is employed as a full-time therapist working as part of a therapeutic team at Connicticut Valley Hospital in Middletown, Conn. Her doctoral thesis is on musical therapy and mentally retarded adults. One night a week Patty visits Faust Hall on Clinton Ave., Bridgeport, Conn, where she works from one to three hours with adult retardees, this service provides both recreational activity and therapeutic tools to her music students. It is so nice and we are so very proud when we learn of one of our members dedicating her life to the alleviation of suffering of her fellow men. Patty we wish you well in your chosen field.
