CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY The Board of Directors have always supported, financially, the Children’s Christmas Parties at the Branches. They enthusiastically urge all Branches to arrange for this great fraternal activity. The Board is aware of the fact that it requires a sacrifice on the part of Branch Officers to perform all the work necessary in connection with these parties, however, the joy it brings our young members is well worth the effort. Members are urged to attend meetings of their respective Branches and help to formulate plans and to offer their time to make these successful. Branch Managers already have received letters outlining procedures to follow for obtaining carol books and printed invitations. Please see to it that these are returned to the Home Office by the first week of November. Directors Dinner Continued from page 4 behalf of the Association in the State of Connecticut. He presented the citation with congratulatory remarks. Mr. Bero expressed his deep personal gratitude for having been recognized by the Board for his services. Mr. John P. Balia, Vice President then presented the ILLUSTRIOUS MEMBER citation to Director Stephen J. Lang, Jr. who is also President of Branch 98, Bethlehem, Pa. Mr. Balia cited the fact that Director Lang is following in his father’s footsteps who also served as Branch President and Director for many years. Mr. Lang accepted the citation with gratitude and pledged his continued efforts on behalf of the Association and its members. Toastmaster Charles then called upon General Counsel Gay B. Banes to present to the Association on behalf of Mrs. Sofia Gomoiy a portrait of the late Samuel C. Gomory, Medical Director. Mr. Banes in eloquent words, gave a brief resumé of Dr. Gomory’s activities and how it was the desire of his widow that this portrait be given to the Association. On behalf of the Association the portrait was accepted, with deep appreciation by National Secretary A lbertj. Stelkovics. Mr. Charles then introduced Gregory M. Lang, M.D. recently appointed Medical Director of the William Penn Association, who is now the third generation of Langs in the Official Family. Dr. Lang responded to the introduction. The entire evening was a pleasant social gathering culminating four years of hard work on behalf of the Association and its Members. IN MEMÓRIÁM John Hegedűs The Association mourns the death of John Hegedűs, member of Branch 48, New York, N. Y. Mr. Hegedűs became a member of the Association in 1923 joining the then Rákóczi Aid Association. In 1939 when the Association embarked on a program of employing full time men to enroll new members, Mr. Hegedűs gave up a successful building contractor business to become the full time man in New York. In addition to this he managed the New York District Office. After the merger he continued on as full time Agent and retired July 1, 1958. Mr. Hegedűs was born in Pamleny, Abauj megye, Hungary. His wife Anna Jacsiszko preceded him in death. He is survived by two sons Zoltán and Andrew. In September 1957 he was awarded the Illustrious Member citation by the Board of Directors for his dedicated services to the Association. He was instrumental in the progress of the Association through his fine efforts in the field. We extend to his family the Association’s sympathies, with his passing another of our outstanding Hungarian pioneers has gone to his just reward. May he rest in peace. IN MEMÓRIÁM John Fulop It is with sad heart that we inform the membership that Mr. JOHN FULOP former District Manager died, July 27, 1975 in Pittsburgh, Pa. Mr. Fulop was born in Pamleny, Abauj megye Hungary. He began his career as the first full time field representative with the former Verhovay Aid Association in June 1933. Despite the depression years he was effective in enrolling new members and continued calling on existing members to continue their dues payments. He covered a large territory and was well known and above all well liked for the services he rendered to the members. There was no social event nor any fraternal activity in the area which he did not participate in. Many times he did a lion’s share of the work to assure the success of such ventures. In March 1953 he received from the Board of Directors the ILLUSTRIOUS MEMBER citation for his loyal service to the Association. He retired from full time service in 1960 but continued for many more years as a part-time Branch Manager. Mr. Fulop is survived by his widow, Margaret Lakatos, son John and two daughters Ethel and Ann, 13 STATEMENT OF CONDITION WILLIAM PENN FRATERNAL ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION, INC.
