With best wishes to all for a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. F raternally yours, Mary Molnár, Secretary 59 Scalp Level, Pa. The Christmas Party for Branch 59 Scalp Level Pa. was a huge success, with all our children and their parants being present. Santa Claus arrived first and greeted all the children as they came in. Each one whispered into Santa/s ear telling him what they wanted for christmas. The sound of Christmas carols flowed through the room supplied by our phonograph. The table was set with sandwiches and soft drinks for everyone. Each child was given a yuletide gift and a song book by Santa. After our light lunch we sang Christmas Carols, so joyously, everyone was so happy. Santa Claus drew the numbers for the door prizes with the following winners: Michael Vites, Chris Ann Kermin, Teresa Lynn Kermin, Karen Korch, Mary Lou Toth, Timmy Bysza, Kathy Kondás, Dana Kondás, Christine Toth and Susan Korch. Hope to see you all at our Christmas Party next year. Happy New Year Fraternally yours, Mary Miller, Branch Manager 76 Philadelphia, Pa. Philadelphia Br. 076 held its 16th Annual Dinner Dance, Sat., Nov. 17th, 1973, in the modern, newly, rebuilt Ballroom of the United German Hungarian Club, in Neshaminy Falls, Pa. From advance indications, we were looking forward to a good turnout. It exceeded our fondest expectations. Near to three hundred elegantly dressed guests attended this popular gala affair in a delightful friendly atmosphere. After the invocation by Mr. Dan Rosenfeld, followed by the singing of the American and Hungarian anthems, everyone gave their attention to the delicious and abundant dinner prepared and served by U.G.H. Club Ladies. We were entertained by the well known Musical Caravan Orchestra from Woodbridge, N.J., with beautiful “Hallgatos” followed by enjoyable and rhythmic dance music. Mr. Joseph Kustra, Br. 076 President, greeted our guests and expressed his appreciation to everyone for helping to make the affair a success. The representative officers were introduced by Br. Mgr. Mr. Steve Szemes. Representing the Home Office, Field Supervisor, Mr. Gus Nagy and Mrs. Nagy. Mr. Nagy spoke on the benefits derived from fratemalism, and the Scholarship Fund that is available to deserving students. Mr. Kustra presented a check for $100. to the Scholarship Fund, on behalf of the Branch, to Mr. Gus Nagy. Guests attending from nearby branches, Messrs., Frank Radvany, Michael Hegedűs, Zoltán Emri, National Directors. Mr. Bela Emri, Rqebling, N.J., Steve Vechy, Trenton, N.J., Branch Presidents. All were accompanied by their charming wives and their guests. We received letters from National Pres. Mr. Elmer Charles, Nat’l Director Stephen Lang, Jr., Br. Mgr. Wm. Kovach, Phoenixville, Pa., Br. Pres. Arthur Barillo, Passaic, N.J., that due to previous commitments, they were not able to attend. They also sent their best wishes. Those attending enjoyed a pleasant evening with many old friends whom we have not seen recently. Also present were a lot of new faces. Mr. Zsigmond Katzianer, Director of American Life, and his charming wife were celebrating their 63rd Wedding Anniversary. They danced gracefully to the tunes of the Anniversary Waltz. Our sincere best wishes to a nice couple. During intermission, we were entertained by a dancing group in Hungarian costumes. They were led by Marika Gergely and our Vice Pres. Attila Balia. They performed various Hungarian Dances with skill and gusto, which was greatly appreciated with much applause by all those present. One sad note that marred an otherwise perfect evening, we missed our dedicated and popular news reporter, Julie Melnick, who passed away recently after a prolonged illness. Before the conclusion of our Affair, we selected a date for next year’s Affair at the same ideally situated place for Sat. Nov. 16, 1974. Please mark your calender for the above date. Roebling and Trenton, N.J. Branches please note. Sat. Dec. 8th, we held our last meeting and held election of officers for the coming year. We were glad to see Mr. Peter Wlosak back with us. Pete and his wife Betty had a pretty hectic year due to illness. We’re glad to report that they are both improving. Our elected officers are as follows President — Joseph Kustra. Vice President — Peter Wlosak. Treasurer — Joseph Karoly. Recording Sec. — Dan Rosenfeld. News Reporter — Jean Zaluski. Auditors — David Morales — Annabel Karoly — Elsie Szemes. They are a dedicated and progressive group of people who deserve your continued support. Please attend our meetings held on the second Saturday of the month at 8 P.M. Location: Phila. Hungarian Club, 1125 Southampton Rd., Phila. Pa. We are sorry to have dissappointed some of our young members, who may have been looking forward to our annual Xmas Party. Due to a lack of interest and the small turnout the past two years, we felt that we did not accomplish the results we expected in the true tradition of the holidays. We hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and to all our members and friends a Happy, Healthy, and prosperous New Year. Fraternally, Stephen Szemes, Branch Manager 89 Homestead, Pa. “Homestead Branch 89 held their Christmas Party for the children on December 16th at the Holiday Inn, West Mifflin, Pa. This party was combined with the branches from Duquesne, McKeesport and Pittsburgh. The children were entertained by a delightful puppet show and they sang Christmas carols and also were entertained by the Boy Scout choral group. The high light of the party was the visit by Santa Claus, who distributed the gifts to the children. Their shining eyes and smiling faces was a sight to behold when the “jolly old man” entered the hall. Refreshments were served to the children and adults. The combined Christmas Party was once again a huge success. Branch 89 is already making preparations for next year’s party which will be bigger and better.” Fraternally yours, John S.
