In Memóriám STEPHEN LANG, SR. 1896 -1972 The Association again mourns the loss of one of its ardent and dedicated builders. All of us were saddened on October 5, 1972 to hear from Director Stephen Lang, Jr. that his beloved Father, Stephen Lang, Sr. had passed on to his eternal reward. Mr. Lang was a former Director of the Association having been elected for the first time at the 1939 Convention and he served in this capacity for 20 years and was instrumental in bringing about the Rakoczi-Verhovay merger in 1955. At the 1963 National Conention he announced to the delegates that it was time for the pioneers to step aside and let youth become part of the management of the Association. He was proud of the fact that he had taught his children the love for fraternal life and proudly recommended to the Convention that his Son Stephen, Jr. be considered as his replacement as Director. By an overwhelming majority his wish was granted and his Son has served admirably since then. Mr. Lang, Sr. commenced his activities in the Association as Branch Secretary and Manager at Branch 98, Bethlehem, Pa. He was instrumental in enrolling many new members into the Association. He later served as President of the Branch. He was a 50 year member of the Association. At his bier Mr. Elmer Charles, National President eulogized Mr. Lang, both in English and in Hungarian, Mr. Charles was also Honorary Pallbearer. Active pallbearers were: Vice-President John P. Balia, Director John Sabo, General Counsel Gay B. Banes, National Treasurer Julius E. Somogyi, Field Manager Gus G. Nagy and National Secretary Albert J. Stelkovics.
