KOCSIS HONORED Saturday, November 20, 1971, Branch 1, Bridgeport, Connecticut, sponsored a most successful Testimonial Dinner for Mr. Albert V. Kocsis, who is past Supreme President of the former Rákóczi Aid Association. The Board of Directors at its August Meeting Awarded to Mr. Kocsis Albert V. Kocsis receiving award from John P. Balia. the degree of Illustrious Member in re­cognition for his service and loyalty in advancing the former Rákóczi and later the William Penn Association and its program of fraternal protection, patriotic services, social and humanitarian en­deavors. About 250 people joined in congratul­ating Mr. Kocsis. The Banquet was pre­­ceeded by a social hour. A very fine pro­gram was arranged by the Branch Offi­cers. Mr. Frank Bero, National Director and President of the Branch extended words of greeting. This was followed by singing the National Anthem and the Magyar Himnusz. Invocation was by Rev. Stephen Bessemer, Pastor, United Church of Christ, North Avenue, Bridgeport, Connecticut. Mr. Bero called upon Vice President and Chairman of the Board, Mr. John P. Balia, to make the presentation to Mr. Kocsis. National Secretary, Albert J. Stelkovics, in his address, highlighted the career of Mr. Kocsis. Mr. Louis L. Varga, National Vice- President, extended congratulations in the name of Mr. Elmer Charles, National Lejt to right - Bero, Kocsis, Balia, Varga. (Kereszti in background) President and added his personal best wishes. Mr. Bero introduced the following out of town guests: Director and Mrs. Michael Hegedűs, New Brunswick, N. J., Director and Mrs. Joseph Toma, New York, N. Y., Auditing Committee Member László Kereszti, New York, N. Y., Joseph Arvay and Mrs. Irene Evans, Branch 19, New Brunswick, N. J., Mrs. John P. Balia and Mrs. Albert J. Stelkovics, Pittsburgh, Pa. Mr. Kocsis served as Vice President of Rákóczi from July, 1947 to October, 1947 when he was elevated to the position of Supreme President. Since 1956 he served in various capacities as Branch Officer and is presently Treasurer. Mr. Kocsis has been a delegate to each National Convention since 1947. Again we extend pur most sincere congratulations to Mr. Kocsis, the honor was well deserved and well earned. 8 Johnstown, Pa. Branch No. 8, Johnstown, Pennsylvania, cooperated with Santa Claus, in playing host to the young members of the Branch at the annual Christmas party held on December 11th at the Hungarian Re­formed Church Hall. Our party began at 4:00 P. M. with carol singing, led by Mrs. Irma Slick. Mr. Gus Nagy, District Supervisor, and Mrs. Nagy joined with us in celebrating. Mr. Nagy showed cartoons, until the arrival of Santa Claus. In addition to the large bag of goodies that each child received, special gifts were also given to lucky members, as door prizes. With the nice weather, tasty refreshments, and fancy presents, all the children and their parents were greatly pleased with our Christmas party. A lot of the credit for this fine party goes to the Home Office, who helped de­fray part of the costs of this Christmas party. 13 Trenton, N. J. Election of Branch Officers was held at the December meeting and the follow­ing were elected: Mr. Stephen Vechy, President, Mr. Stephen Lestician, Vice- President, Mrs. Elsie Radvany, Secretary, Mr. Anthony Beke, Treasurer and Mr. Joseph Hamari, Auditor. Congratulations and best wishes to «11 our newly elected Officers that will serve our Branch for the coming year. Branch 13 held their Annual Christmas Party, Sunday, December 12th, at the St. Stephen’s Parish Hall with approximately 82 children and some parents attending. Director Frank J. Radvany welcomed everyone and wished therq an' enjoyable time at the party, then Branch President, Stephen Vechy had drawings for door prizes. As usual many of the children won prizes, thanks to Branch 13, Ladies Auxiliary of Branch 13 and Director Frank Radvany. Entertainment was by the wonderful Irene Parker Dancing Studio. Everyone including parents always enjoy this group. These charming girls are quite talented and entertaining, they have a variety of Song and Dance numbers, a Baton Twirling Act and Acrobatic Acts. Next Santa arrived with lots of presents and goodies for all the children. Santa talks to each child and assures them that they will be receiving other presents on Christmas Eve when he makes his rounds. Refreshments were served last. With best wishes to all and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. Miss Margaret Kovach, Reporter 14 Cleveland, Ohio Branch 14 closed out 1971 with three successful affairs, namely: Our annual Harvest Festival held in October which drew a capacity crowd of more than 250 people. Our annual Children’s Christmas Party where in more than 200 wide-eyed and excited youngsters attended. Last of all, a victory party celebrating the unani­mous re-election of all last years officers. Plans are under way for more and better social affairs in 1972. The Branch is holding a Card Party on Sunday, February 27th at Kossuth Hall. All local members and area residents are invited. The highlight of the year will be a banquet celebrating the 70th Anniversary of Branch 14. The banquet will be held on Sunday afternoon, April 23, 1972 at Bethlen Hall, corner of East Boulevard and Buckeye Road. Program Chairman Ed Torda promises an entertaining afternoon and the committee promises an excellent, home cooked, family style dinner. All of our friends are invited to help us cele­brate our anniversary year. William S. Kastan The Association is happy and proud to report that one of its members of long­standing has been elected Mayor of his community. Hon. Joseph E. Dudás, mem­ber of Branch 14, Cleveland, Ohio was elected Mayor for the Village of Lakeline, Ohio. Mr. Dudás became a member of the former Verhovay Association in Logan. West Virginia and with his family moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1946 and continued 4
