Rosalie Stransky Regina Sándor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sándor, 35-year members of the William Penn Fraternal Association, was graduated at the top of her class at Center High School, Monaca, Penn­sylvania. She received the school’s shorthand award, represented her school in the Beaver County Skills Contest. She has been awarded a scholarship. Regina is niece of Mr. Louis Nemeth, Manager of Branch 83. 76 Philadelphia, Pa. BANQUET NEWS: Our Annual Fall Banquet and Dinner Dance will be held on November 16, 1968. The place — Schwarzwald Inn, Olney Avenue at 2nd Street, Phila., Pa. Parking facilities available. Cost: Dinner and Dance — $6.00 per person; Dance ONLY — $2.50 per person. Parents — invite those teen­agers — where else could they have a better time? Menu?—delicious beef as only the Inn can prepare. Music will be furnished by our favorite orchestra the Musical Caravan. At this time we also extend Con­gratulations to a wonderful oouple (and more than faithful members of our Wm. Penn Association) who celebrated their 34th WEDDING Anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert (Gábor) Benedek. The anniversary was July 21st, and happily remembered by their five children and seventeen grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Benedek, may you have many more such happy anniversaries. Happy Summer Holidays to you all. Julie Melnick 249 Dayton, Ohio Branch 249 held a very memorable meeting on Sunday, May 12, 1968. This particular meeting will be remembered Left to right: Mr. John Motko, President, Branch 249, Mrs. Steve Krusoczky, Mr. Louis Vassy, Director, Mrs. Steve Koncz, Mr. Alex Nyirati, past member of the National Auditing Com­mittee, Mr. Albert G. Kertesz, present member of the National Auditing Committee. Due to illness, Mr. Gaspar Csatto could not be present. by all present. Especially four members who received their 50-Year Pins com­memorating 50 years of loyal member­ship in our beloved William Penn Asso­ciation. Recipients were: Mrs. Steve Krusoczky, Mrs. Steve Koncz, Mr. Gaspar Csatto, and Mr. Alex Nyirati, past member of the National Auditing Com­mittee. The presentations were made by Mr. Louis Vassy, National Director, who delivered an address paying homage to the four honored members, for their faithfulnes during these many long years. The meeting was well attended, and was climaxed with a buffet in honor of the recipients. DANE WERT ALLERGIES Half of the people in Pennsylvania sneeze or sniffle, wheeze or itch, suffer intestinal disturbances or other uncom­fortable symptoms because of their allergies. Allergy is a word coined 50 years ago but the conditions it describes are as old as mankind. An allergy is an ab­normal reaction to certain substances. Not all allergies receive attention be­cause when they occur in children, many parents feel the children will out­grow them. But allergies rarely get better without specific treatment and they are seldom outgrown. A careful look at an allergy patient’s health history will show most of the following: A skin rash, beginning a few days after birth and probably lasting at least several weeks, which indicates a response to sensitization. Colic, beginning about the third week and lasting three months or more. Colic is a painful bowel spasm and may be the result of sensitization to milk. Infantile eczema, “weeping eczema”, appearing between three months and six years of age, is most common in a child who has had colic. This usually is a reaction to milk, eggs or wheat but may be caused by other foods. Respiratory allergy occurring in child­hood continues with increasing severity into adulthood. This includes the com­mon “hay fever”, bronchial asthma, pollinosis, allergic rhinitis and cold-like symptoms. Allergies sometimes are very difficult to cure although in some instances a single desensitizing “shot” may effect a cure.
