This information is the basis of evaluations made at the regional water authorities, at the Institute for Water Management, and at VITUKI (Water Quality Year-books, Water Quality Maps, the situation of water quality in Hungary, longitudinal water quality sections, investigation of tendencies in water quality, satisfaction of water quality demands, etc.). To increase the reliability of the measurements and to develop further some analytical methods a so-called "intercalibration-program" was launched by the Institute for Water Quality Protection of VITUKI. The program was designed initially for the homogenization of laboratory work at the regional water authorities. Later, other laboratories were also subject to the standards of this program.
