162 Juhász Endre Rapid composting facility for sewage sludge and garbage by Dr. E. JUHÁSZ The first rapid composting facility for sewage sludge and garbage in Hungary was completed in December, 1982 at Keszthely town according to the designs prepared by engineers of the Water Development Engineering Co., VIZITERV. The objective is to convert the communal wastes originating in the south-western part of the Lake Balaton region into a substance suited to recycling in agriculture. The inflow to Stage 1 of the facility consists of 50 t/d domestic garbage and 10 t/d unwatered sludge on the average, of which 33.01 of ripe compost are expected daily. The technological system has been designed on the basis of the DANO system, to which the main items of mechanical equipment have been supplied by the firm MUT, Austria. The complete project took two years to realize, including engineering work and trial operation. The compost produced has a fertilizer value comparable to that of stable manure and no sanitary limitations are imposed to its application. * * * Einrichtung zur Schnellkompostierung von Abwasserschlamm und Abfall von Dr. Endre JUHÁSZ Auf Grund der Pläne des Entwurfsbüros für Wasserbau (VIZITERV) wurde im Dezember 1982 in der Stadt Keszthely die erste ungarische Einrichtung für Schnellkompostierung von Abwasserschlamm und Abfall fertiggestellt. Sie hat die Aufgabe, die im südwestlichen Räume des BalatonSees anfallanden Siedlungsabfälle in für die Landwirtschaft nutzbare Stoffe umzugestalten. In ihrer ersten Ausbauetappe empfängt die Einrichtung durchschnittlich 50 t/d Haushaltsabfall und 10 t/d entwässerten Schlamm, woraus voraussichtlich 33,0 t/d Reifkompost erzeugt werden kann. Die Grundlage des technologischen Systems bildete das DANO-Prinzip, wozu die wichtigeren maschinenbaulichen Einrichtungen von der österreichischen Firma MUT geliefert wurden. Die vollständige Verwirklichung der Anlage benötigte — vom Anfang der Projektierung bis Anfang des Probebetriebes — lediglich 2 Jahre. Der Düngungswert des erstellten Komposts ist wie derjenige des Stalldüngers. Seine Verwendung wird aus hygienischen Gründen nicht begrenzt.
