long barbel, - reaching usually to preoperculum, - in corner of mouth; length of barbel 31.3-46.7 % of length of head. Eye large, diameter 23.6-29.1 % of length of head. Snout short, preorbital distance 33.1-41.2 postorbital distance 37.1-42.5 % of length of head. Interorfcital distance equals diameter of eye, 22,4-29.2 % of length of head. Pins well developed, pectoral fin extending almost to ventral fin, length 20.6-24,6 % of standard length. Front of dorsal fin aligned with or somewhat in front of base of ventral fin, predorsal distance 44.3-47.6 preventral distance 46.249.8 % of standard length. Dorsal fin medium long, yet high, base 12.5-14.9 height 21.8-28.5 % of standard length; margin of fin straightly truncate. Ventral fin not much longer than base of dorsal fin, length 16,2-20.3 % of standard length. Anal fin short, base 5.84-8.72 %, height 15.8-19.9 % of standard length. Caudal peduncle long, low, somewhat flattened laterally, length 18.1-25.2 height 7.18-9.49 % of standard length.Lateral line whole, scales of medium size. Its color is greyish-yellow dorsally, lighter on the sides, yellowish ventrally. The lateral scales have a silvery shine, the fins are yellowish. There are 6-12, usually 7-8, dark spots on the sides of the body, but the spots are smaller and paler than those of the two other species. The fins display no spots, with the exception of the caudal fin which shows a pale row of spots. The species differs from Gobio gobi o L. with respect to the following characters: elevation of body lower, head narrower and lower, eye larger, diameter of eye equalling interorbital distance; barbel longer, extending over posterior margin of eye; caudal peduncle lower and thicker; spots on sides of body smaller and paler, with one pale row of Bpots on caudal peduncle only. Gobio uranoBcopu s /AGASSI Z/ differs from Gobio albiplnnatu8 bellng i SLASTENENKO in a lower and wider body /o' a cylindrical shape/, considerably smaller eyes; interorbi-
