Greeting this group at dinner, Mr. Balaban congratulated them on the Rakoczi-Verhovay merger, presented them with the formal Merger Agreement approval of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and, bidding the new William Penn Board of Directors farewell, expressed his sincere wishes for much success to the newly-formed William Penn Fraternal Association. This merger of the two societies is another significant step in the forward march of the Hungarian Americans toward unity and common purpose. We salute the Rákóczi and the Verhovay members with their leaders on an accomplishment so momentous and far-reaching. The Rakoczi-Verhovay merger has given the entire membership a new kind of Christmas joy—the WILLIAM PENN FRATERNAL ASSOCIATION! BUFFALO, NEW YORK TO BE 1956 TOURNAMENT CITY EVENTS SCHEDULED FOR MAY 12—13 Buffalo, New York in 1956 is the very welcome and cheerful news the howlers of the William Penn Fraternal Association have been waiting for. The National Tournament Executive Committee could not have made a better recommendation and the Board of Directors could not have approved a better site than this large center of activity located in the southwestern part of the State of New York, just a stone’s throw, as it were, from Ontario, Canada. The William Penn Fraternal Association’s newly elected officers and the members of the Board of Directors decided on the continuance of the National Bowling Tournaments and the National Fellowship Days, two combined national events that met with so much success for the former Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association. The officers and the members of the former Rákóczi Aid Association are equally enthusiastic in promoting this great yearly sports and fraternal festival. The special Board meeting, held the latter part of November, 1955, approved the National Tournament Executive Committee’s recommendation that the amount donated by the Association toward the bowlers’ handicap prize fund be increased in cash by $1,500, plus trophies. It also approved the creation of a special prize fund to be based on ACTUAL PINS SCORED! This means that while the event will be staged on a handicap basis, still, in order to lure even the best of bowlers to this tourney, it created a special prize fund of $1,000, plus trophies. We feei certain that this action will please all the bowlers in as much as it will be possible for a bowler to win not only a prize in the handicap event but also a prize based on actual scores. The Board also approved appointing to the National Tournament Executive Committee a member of the host branch of the tournament city, preferably a bowler. Branch 383, Buffalo, New York, the host branch for 1956, will have the honor of naming one of its members to the committee. The hotel selected as the headquarters for our members attending the 1956 Tournament-Fellowship Days is the Hotel Statler, Delaware Avenue at Niagara Square. The Hotel Statler is the most modern hotel in Buffalo, comparing favorably' with the other Hilton hotels used as our headquarters at previous Tournament-Fellowship Days, such as the Conrad Hilton, Chi(Continued on page 8) OUR HAPPIEST CHRISTMAS The beautiful Christmas season is again here. With Christendom’s greatest holiday, the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ some 1955 years ago, comes a wonderful spiritual renascene in the hearts and souls of men, bringing in a thrilling manner goodness and kindness, love and charity, humility and meekness. Only the GOD-MAN, Jesus of Nazareth, could infuse such wonders of heart and feeling to men otherwise burdened with the cares of this life and hardened to its realities. Truly Christmas and all its wonderments cry out the divinity of Christ our Saviour. The spirit and joy of Christmas has this year been enchanced for our membership to make us our happiest Christmas yet, for we, Rákóczi and Verhovay, are become one great society dedicated to a united effort in the fulfillment of the ideals of our WILLIAM PENN FRATERNAL ASSOCIATION. May our membership enjoy a Holy Christmas and receive the Bountiful Blessings of the New Year! —JOHN BENCZE, Retiring National President; COLOMAN REVESZ, National President; ALBERT J.
